Thanx for a reply r-type. As I stated before, there are some minor things that bothered me with this movie but together with Pirates 3, those movies are best that came this year so far. I'm buying Transformers on DVD, no doubt about it. 8)

Saw the film for the second time today and as expected my feelings have changed a little. Although I stand by my comments of there being too much humour I now know what to expect and could enjoy the flick even more. Plus you can notice things you didn't find from the first showing so rating has to go up to 9/10 instead of 8/10. It loses the one mark for inappropriate humour.

I think the oil can lubrication thing is a bit much now.

I saw and heard things I didn't the last 3 times though. Definately one of my top five this year.

I'm seeing Die Hard today, so hopefully that'll give me 4 for the top five of 07 instead of 3. (Ya know, TMNT, Transformers, Pathfinder. Yeah.)

8th time now and this time I noticed something really cool.

its nothing unusual or suprising but remember during the Sector 7 and Autobot meeting? Right when they take the kids back, Ironhide notices Sector 7 cars and Helicopters coming.

So then Ironhide says "incoming!!" and then slams his cannon into the ground causing and EMP to disable the cars.

Most won't notice this because it is normal for the human eye to only focus on things that are in motion and that would be Ironhide doing the EMP thing. But if you look around and look at the Autobots in the background, you will notice that they are all in "ready for war" stances.

Jazz is kneeled down with shield and gun pointing forward ready to shoot. And Ratchet has his "gangster pull" on. If you watched the behind the scenes footage in The Rock Criterion edition, Gangster Pull is what the Military Technical Advisor calls it when a gunman holds his gun sideways or at an angle to provide a more "cool" looking way to shoot. Ratchet apparently has both guns in "gangster pull" style. The scene was really fast so I couldn't catch what Bumblebee was doing. But all of them were ready for battle. It was a very quick but cool scene.

Well, it's been some time since I last visited this site, but now that "Transformers" has arrived in Germany, I thought I'd give my 2 cents...

In my opinion, "Transformers" is wrong on many, many levels. Even by blockbuster standards, this stands out as one of the silliest movies ever to make it to the big screen. It represents almost everything wrong with big budget summer fare.

BUT very much unlike "Live Free or Die Hard" (which I thought was a disgrace) I really did enjoy this trashfest. Dumb plot, lousy acting and the tendency to cut away too fast aside, the movie really worked for me. This of course is due in great part to the absolutely flawless special effects, but there's more to it than that. Sure, there's the usual patriotic undertones (which -although being German - I don't especially mind, actually I was quite surprised to see no single American flag ), but many parts of the movie conveyed an almost childlike innocence - the obvious nods to the "Herbie"-movies of old being a prime example.

Unlike the awulf fourth "Die Hard"-Installment (the first still being my favorite action movie of all time), "Transformers" manages to create a setting and mood that allows the viewer to overlook most, if not all, of its flaws and simply enjoy the ride. So while it's not a masterpiece by a long shot (and ranks behind "Armageddon" and "The Rock" in my list of Bay-favourites), it's certainly better than most action movies that have been churned out in the past few years.

Seen it 3 times now, it just gets better, and better, I've never been to see a movie more than once. This overtakes Top Gun as my fave movie of all time now. (and coming from me that's high praise) However now its time to sit back and await the dvd, can't wait to hear Mikes commentary. :)

I think it's made about $17 million in the UK so far. Not sure if that's met expectations or not though, but it was up against Simpsons.
