Of course TF got a 9 day head start but we'll see what its theatrical run is like. On a side not, Spider-Man 3 is off the top 20s. So it had a 8 week theatrical run putting itself on the $300+ million mark If it performs as well as Spider-Man 3, Pirates 3 and Shrek 3, then it'll definitely be in the $300+ million mark. HP has passed TF in (worldwide box office). HP is at $330 million and TF is at $320 million.
Thats because Transformers has not Hit Japan yet..
when does it hit Japan??

Its like screaming Medic! in Black Hawk Down and nobody comes to help
Is there a doctor in the house ???

I watched it yesterday and the theater is still packed. No lineups though but three quarters of the theater was filled up.

Went to see it today at 1pm UK time for the advance screening in the city centre. My review:
After all the whining, arguing, michael bay / don murphy/ spielberg hating across the world wide web I have to say , most of it was all for nothing. Didnt mean a thing simply because the way most of it was put across was borderline personal against the film makers themselves. The guys who got hounded on the internet have produced a movie that is great fun, remarkable and never been seen before, credit should be given to them to attempt something many would not. Have they pulled it off? Yes!!
Although the story is very simple I got quite a good buzz from it, much the same as I did when I watched the G1 cartoon all those years ago and to me it did feel like Transformers, it felt like a modern day version template to set the ground for future movies in the franchise. Very much like the first X-Men was.
The special effects are astounding, the instrumental soundtrack is very good, the performances of the actors are decent (sam and his parents stand out for me) and it flows nicely. The sign of a good film is that it runs quickly, (two hours felt like an hour).
Some standouts for me:
*Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime was brilliant
*The scene of the autobots arriving and choosing their alt modes made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, the music was so good for that scene
*Megatrons voice, Hugo pulled it off for me "You've failed me yet again Starscream...GET THEM!"
*Bumblebee
*Special effects, massive credit to ILM, they have remarkable people working for them
*The soundtrack (instrumental stuff)
*Bays action style
*Optimus' taking out Bonecrusher
*Frenzy & Barracade
There are many more but I probaby need to see it again to give more praise and probably again to nitpick any faults. I had a great time and as a template for future sequels it really does set the standard for summer blockbusters and raises much excitement for what should be Transformers 2 A Michael Bay film.
8.5/10
