Hey Michael. Just happy to hear that you're on board for the next movie.

As unfortunate as the format war is... it's here... it's real.. so rather than steaming up about which player to get or what movies I can't buy.. I'm gonna just pick a player, and hope that my contribution to the war will help sway it one way or another. I'll be buying a HD_DVD player because I have an XBOX360, and I want transformers. I may end up buying a dual format player once i Move into my new place and can save some money, but honestly the only reason I'm getting a high def optical media player.. is for transformers. I have had a 1080p screen for almost a year now without anything native to watch on it... so this will be a welcome addition to my system!

Looking forward to what you do with TF2.

Scottie

as much as i love transformers and its easily in my top 5 favorite films...i'd never buy an hd-dvd player for just one movie.

I made a post in the general forum regarding this format war but here is the link again.

I think this would solve a lot of problems rather than not.

If people do not like this particular multi format player I'm sure there will be other options.

That's some stupid pricing: $1,049

You can buy both an HD-DVD & a Blu-ray player and still save about $200-300.

Agreed, there were also two other options one at $549.00 and $649.00.
If people can spend that much on a PS3 or an Iphone then that's not too unreasonable.
This was just one example however, I'm sure there are others with similar price points or a little better.

I wanted to quote this for emphasis, as I think it's a damn good point.

So much backlash toward Blu-ray has been aimed at the higher retail price of the players. Well, a whole crap load of people just went out and dropped a similar amount of cash on the iPhone. I talked to some people who said they can't afford to spend that much money on a luxury item such as a Blu-ray player, having just picked up the iPhone. Ummm...I'm pretty sure the iPhone is just about the biggest luxury item going around at the moment.
