The proof?
1. He chose to be a Mustang. 2. He got his ass kicked in car form by a 1977 Camaro. 3. He got his ass kicked in robot form by BumbleBee before he became the new Camaro.
Knowing that the odds are stacked against him, and not being a complete idiot, took one look at BumbleBee and ducked out of the fight like a little bitch.
Watch your mouth. The Mustang didn't go though a midlife crisis and had to take a break for 10 years to do some soul searching.
Plus That Saleen will wup yo ass.
And Barricade was the baddest Mo Fo of all the bad guys. He will be back. Oh yes... He will be back.

The break in production has not been, or will be ten years.
"Plus That Saleen will wup yo ass."
NO, that Saleen will not overpower my 1967 Camaro SS.
"And Barricade was the baddest Mo Fo of all the bad guys."
He was NOT the badest by any means. He went down the fastest
of all the bad guys. It was so predictable that he would loose
to the Camaro that they didn't even show the fight when they went
into robot mode.
Lets also bring up the fact that the new Camaro will be everything the mustang isn't:
Independent rear-end.
100hp more than the mustang GT.
Larger rims, if you really must have HUGE rims.
Better fuel economy. Yeah, that actually does matter
to me because I really do want it all.
Lets face it, GM may have screwed up the sales of Camaro, but the car
is superior to the mustang. Even giant fucking robots from outer-space understand this.
"He will be back. Oh yes... He will be back."
...and what do you think will happen??? He'll get his ass kicked
all over again.

It may have not gone through a midlife crisis, but from the early 70's until only now all the mustangs looked like crap.
I'm not even a Camaro nut (except for the Gen5) so why am I getting into this.
1967 Pontiac GTO all the way.
I do agree that Barricade was a bit of a bad ass, he just had performance anxiety. It happens to the best of us

See? Bay kept it in line with the original. I'm sure the DVD extended version will let us know what happened to ole 'Cadey.
I assume he went into hiding like Starscream.
At the end of the movie I turned to my friend and said "Wait....did Barricade just pull a Blaster on us?"

You have to remember that these guys can scan ANYTHING! So who is to say that Baricade didn't take on another form and hitch a ride with starscream.... no one knows. But, money says hell be a different form in the sequel.

I believe Barricade was an Autobot spy teamed up with Bumblebee to find the Cube. He infiltrated the Decepticons by befriending Frenzy. This alliance benefits Barricade with instant information that Frenzy acquires.
We did not see the fight between Barricade and Bumblebee because the chase sequence and fight were faked so as to not blow Barricade's cover when Frenzy is around.
The last we see of Frenzy is at Hoover Dam; did Barricade leave the final fight sequence to pick Frenzy up?
Or did he go back into seclusion because his mission was fulfilled, only to come back in the sequel, re-joining the Autobots as Mirage.
