The movie was fuckin epic!!!!!!
going to watch it again this saturday..
its got a solid story, great cast, amazing cgi work.. i loved it!
yeah, wonder why you guys are getting it so late.. i think we get avengers also before you guys. i checked out a bunch of reviews for battleship, a lot of people dont seem to like it, just like how people hated on transformers.. i loved it tho.
anyone else seen it yet? ppl from europe?
You can pretty much expect that for movies like this now.
My bold prediction is that this movie is going to be a big hit just from its sheer absurdity. I remember watching the trailer at the cinema, and when the title "BATTLESHIP" appeared, everybody in the audience bursted out laughing. Something tells me the same audience is still going to see the movie anyway.
One of my friends told me her father saw a preview for this and said, "this looks awful. I bet my daughter wants to see it." :lmao
I didn't like it at all, cool CGI though.
They just tried to make it look like transformers too much.
It is indeed very similar, and most people I know thought the Battleship Super Bowl trailer was for the 4th Transformers.Originally Posted by sora
It's already doing great numbers overseas though, so I think Paramount can rest easy.
I loved the score. They even had some sounds from Transformers, the movie didn't have it's own style and I think any director out there will have a hard time trying to copy Michael's style.
It had potential but they blew it. Bad acting all over the board and terrible jokes. The CGI was the only good thing and the aliens were pretty damn cool.
Well that's the problem. I'm not sure Paramount are very happy when Universal are promoting their movie using the already proven TF pattern and name. Because although they both are made in association with Hasbro, Battleship is not Paramount's but Universal's (as Sora said too). Still it would be very interesting to see how far the movie will go in the box office with this campaign. I'm seeing it on Friday.![]()
Shows how stupid I am. I thought it was a Paramount movie....hahaOriginally Posted by Albershide
Just got back, I had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it but I got really annoyed at some scenes with how similar they were to Bay's work, took me right out of the movie. I enjoyed Jablonsky's score, yet a lot of it sounded similar to the DOTM one (Our Final Hope, Shockwave's Revenge, Impress Me, It's Our Fight).
You tell her we're not her pets, and we're not her toys! We're an advance, genius alien race just looking for a home!
A good movie! I liked it a

release of the movie
"Transformers 4".
A fun movie, charming story-wise. The character development of Hopper bros. resembles Star Blazers. Also it's nice to see proper Japanese actors speaking proper Japanese in a Hollywood movie.![]()
Remember watching this a couple of weeks ago or something. It was great. I thought I was gonna be disappointed at first coz the movie trailer and all the promotional stuffs like posters were meh... but the movie was just all different and opposite. Kinda reminiscent of TF too.

Saw it a week ago. It's like a Michael Bay wannabe movie without the Michael Bay feel of action. Peter Berg has copied just straight on the Autobot entry scene from Transformers, the astronaut slow motion walk scene from Armageddon, the desert bomb scene from TF2 and a sinking ship scene from the Titanic.
Then the alien space ships work beyond all common sense. They jump on water from one place to another instead of flying in the air. A Destroyer class ship blows up and the shock-wave from the blast travels like 10 meters. The only good thing is that the CGI of the alien ships is very good and that the aliens are human like. I also liked the fact that they actually play Battleship, the board game in a high tech way. I wondered how they were gonna do that in the movie.
I thought that the movie was OK, but I don't think I'm gonna buy it on Blu-ray when it's released...
I saw it, a movie best seen at the cinema for the action sequences. There was stuff that reminded me of TFs especially the exact copied sound! lol Dont know if rhianna was trying to have an American accent but her Barbados accent came through at the end of the film very strongly. Id say great popcorn flick to sit switch off and enjoy. I enjoyed it thoroughly and there could be an avenue for a sequel. I like the backstory they have created with the aliens and their looks along with their technology. This could be expanded on.
6/10
One scene at the end with the three rolling balls, did it look like to anyone else they kind of stayed in mid flight, freezed?
Got to see this movie early and I have to say...I didn't like it. The visuals were cool and all but the story was just plain stupid and I don't really like Kitsch that much so maybe that's why. But the effects were pretty cool.

i think im the only dude who really loved it, watched it 2 times in cinemas & will get the blu ray for sure..
love the score as well, similar to dotm but for me that's a good thing.. i got the score. i like "your going to the navy" and "full attack" the most.
Saw it.
Yes, you can say that it was influenced by Bay's style, but it was still a Peter Berg movie with Peter Berg's trademark camera moves and editing. I thought it was very well made and for me it was a breath of fresh air - I don't remember the last time that I've seen a big-budget movie with a lot of water and biga$$ Navy ships fighting aliens. I have to admit though, I was expecting more from Jablonsky's score. There were moments where the music was great (the "My chair is your chair" scene for example), but overall I can't say that the score was something spectacular.
In the end, I can only say that in my opinion "Battleship" is a pretty effective action movie and I (unlike some other folks I talked to right after the movie), certainly wouldn't use the words "dumb fun" or "guilty pleasure" to describe it. For one, there's no such thing as "guilty pleasure" - these are just words for people who are too chickeshit to openly admit that they flat-out liked a commercial Hollywood action movie made for the masses. As for "dumb fun", that's the way I describe movies like "Epic Movie", "Date Movie" and "Disaster Movie". These are movies who rely on extremely dumb things to make people laugh. "Battleship" is much more sofisticated than these flicks and in my view it's just as entertaining as the overhyped "Avengers".
Both films rely on pretty much the same things - a lot of CGI, humor, crazy action scenes, mass destruction, weird alien creatures and so on and so on.
And I enjoyed them for that.
