I saw this when I saw Captain America. It looks like it's going to be the Dark Knight version of Spider-Man, and it looks interesting.
Meh.
It's like casting someone else as Wolverine. Toby McGuire nailed it, and this is totally unnecessary.
Remake the third one instead.
With a title like "The Amazing Spider-Man," you'd expect it to be something with a fun, lighter tone rather than the darker feel they're shooting for.

They might as well have gotten freakin Robert Pattinson or whatever his name is to play Peter... Lame..
It doesn't have the same positive "feel" as the other Marvel hero films.
Something tells me this is going to be a repeat of the previous Spider-man films in terms of overall outcome. I don't think it will top the previous ones. And the feel is not much different. Only new faces but same feel as the previous films.
???
Tobey Mcguire was ok for Peter but not quite right, Garfield seems right for the role. This reboot is based on Ultimate Spider-Man, people read the graphic novel please.
This one will have The Lizard in it and fans have been demanding for him. I'm sure we'll see Kingpin in this series as well as Hobgoblin, Kraven and maybe even have other Marvel heroes joining in like Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine or others.
Pumped for new Spidey. New Spidey looks great.
The only aspects I would have retained (if any) from Raimi's Spider-Man are James Franco and Dylan Baker.
And lay off the kid. The kid is a great actor and really into it.

Not the point. Most of the public won't read the graphic novel. They just watch the movie. Completely rebooting a popular and respected franchise thats less than a decade old is asinine. This isnt like the Hulk reboot, where the 2003 version was a huge disappointment. The entire Spiderman franchise (except #3) was very well recieved. Batman Begins this is not.Originally Posted by HarryCanyon
I'm gonna give it a chance. When I saw the trailer with Captain America, I had mixed feelings of "jeez, another Spider-Man?" against "holy shit, this actually looks badass" that sorta canceled each other out. Plus, I'm not really a Spider-Man fan. (I'm more of an Avengers guy.)
Another trailer would probably help seal the deal for me.

Well this movie is definitely for fans of "Ultimate Spider-Man", those graphic novels are amazing and were a reboot of Spider-Man in comics. This one will ditch the organic webshooters that some hardcore Spider-Man comic fans hate and will go back to mechanical shooters like in the comics, it also has Gwen Stacy who was Parker's first girlfriend before MJ and The Lizard included.
Was X-Men First Class a reboot too?
New poster. Looks kinda awkward if you ask me.

Afterall Spider-Man 3 was panned and Sam Raimi with others called it quits including Mcguire who was getting too old for the part, the studios had no choice but to reboot it.It worked for Batman in 2005 because 7 years earlier the series was killed by Joel Schumacher.

Personally, the eyes bother me on the suit.

Like the poster and liked what I saw from the teaser trailer I watched a few months back. Seems like it may have a dark feel to it which is fine with me. I feel this series did need a new vision. I will definitley be there overnight. People have said that this follows the Ultimate Spiderman story which is fine with me since I was a big fan of Ultimate Spiderman.
Anyone glad Lizard's in it? i hope Electro or Hobgoblin shows up in sequel
Did I mention I'm not excited bout the reboot of a franchise not in need of rebooting?
What about Batman's reboot from Nolan? afterall the series started in 1989 and died in 97, it took a decade to reboot the series and we finally got Batman's origin story on film which was never told before except only briefly in Batman 1989 and in some bits in Batman Mask of the Phantasm but now Nolan showed us how he met Jim Gordon, how we got to know Batman, how he met his first villains, how he became Batman and all that.
Batman: 16 years in 2005.
Spider-Man: 10 years in 2012.
The new The Amazing Spider-Man trailer!!
Bet it will look really cool when it has been shot in real 3D just like Bay did with DOTM!!

This movie has a lot to prove. For me this reboot was absolutely unnecessary so soon after the previous trilogy. At least they should have gone in a completely new direction. Looking at the trailers it looks pretty ordinary.
I initially balked at the idea, but personally it looks better with each spot. We'll see. Hopefully this and Ghost Rider end up pleasantly surprising me.Originally Posted by Albershide
As for why so soon? Considering the reason might be so that Columbia/Sony retain the movie rights to Spidey (ala' 20thFox/Wolverine, First Class), I'm guessing they're playing it safe, story-wise, with this "re"quel.
Only watched on my iPhone, so can't get too much into the look, but for whatever reason I'm kinda looking forward to this. I only saw the first two Raimi movies, and I thought they were pretty good, but I never really liked Toby Maguire as Spiderman. He was just too... goofy? Something like that.

That indeed makes sense.
I personally didn't like Sam Raimi's movies. The second one was OK I guess. With the reboot I don't like the fact that the villain (Green Lizard) has too much in common with the Green Goblin and Venom from the previous movies. The big difference I see now is that Spiderman is an expert of martial arts and a superhuman.
But indeed this one looks better than the previous.
I personally like Sam Raimi's Spidey movies. Probably because I grew up watching them since I was a really big spider man fan and watched the first one when it first came out. I was around 9-10 and loved all of them. I don't want to say that the reboot will ruin my childhood but I'm not looking forward to it as much.
