I think the problem with a prequel on Cybertron is then it just becomes an expensive cartoon. Thus losing the magic that the live action setting gives it.

The franchise is over?? No way it is over. Maybe this part is, but not TF as a whole.

No. No Reboot, No Prequel. A fourth one, a continuation; OR it's not worth watching, for me, that is. All of the cast, all of the remaining transformers, continue!

That would be abit better, but personally I've always found the TF stories that go off Earth and focus on Cybertron for long periods to be the least interesting.

I'm still rooting for a fourth transformers with the same story continuing. (no matter how many times michael bay said this is most likely the last one.) I'm NOT giving up hope...
Let's just say... IF michael decided that he would like to do a TF4 after the success of this one...do you think he would start NEXT summer ? (IF)

There are too many characters, and story lines they could explore before seriously considering a reboot. I feel they haven't even really scratched the surface with Transformers the way they should. Less attention on love interests, and more on TF mythology. Too much there to PLAY WITH!!!

If this is the end I have been thinking of this since TF1 I would like to see michael and ILM tackle the mechwarrior universe.

The first scene in transformers 1 where blackout transforms and walks the base taking stuff out totaly reminded me of mechwarrior I think its would make an awesome michael bay film.

It's definitely not the end. I might like the next one if they were to maybe give Sideswipe as equal on screen time and Bumblebee and Optimus. And I think there were just too many pointless humans in the third one. Maybe scale it back a little.

I would like to see maybe Lennox, Epps and their families being the focal human point now.

Regardless of what form it takes, Paramount will definitely make a 4th movie.

There's no way their gonna give up making several-hundred-million dollars in profit every couple of years.

Don't know if reboot or continuity, but I'm sure someone (either Michael or someone else) will continue with TF. I believe this is not the end of the Transformers franchise.

If they continue with the remaining characters, which they can the more and more I think about it, I would like to see it picked up by the following combo: Jerry Bruckheimer producer, Ridley Scott director!
Those two could make it in the way it has been so far, but with even more borderline R rated action, cause Bruckheimer has worked with Bay before and knows what kind of movies he makes and Bruckheimer made Black Hawk Down with Ridley Scott. So the action part would be covered with that duo.
Bay could stay as an executive producer and help with the story and characters when needed and Spielberg won't give up this franchise willingly either, so he would be on board as well, as some small producer part, but it would be Bruckheimer-Scott-Bay calling the shots when making the movie.

The way they can continue the story is that the story begins when the Bank Truck with some of the Decepticons who we saw release the Space Port rods around the world, saves Megatron from being melted to liquid metal at a steel mill (Terminator 2 ending style).
Who's the Bank truck? Well, during the history of movies, if there's one thing we have learned, it's that the bad guys always has brothers.
He's Megatron's unknown brother Megatwist! (just a suggestion)
Then they revive Megatron like in ROTF, by killing one of their own and then go into hiding to plan how to kill Optimus and Co and take over the planet.
But please stop talking about bringing in Unicron!!
A robot that's the size of a planet is just ridiculous!!
A robot who's several thousand kilometers tall is just lame!:lame
It would be in the proportions of a human who's 2 meters tall vs a black ant, with Optimus Prime being the black ant!
    Just stupid!:head:head

No doubt Paramount will do something with the Transformers franchise when you look at the fact how much money the movies have made to the company.
    The only question is what?...

Thumbs up Re: Reboot or no reboot? Do NOT! vote before seeing the movie! SPOILERS!!

As Don Murphy said there more likely will be the next trilogy and I want to see a continuation. Because let's face it - reboots right after the original look silly. Besides I'm one of those who's classic transformers are not in first seasons of G1.

Actually I think that the new trilogy can be very successfully made in G1 Season 3 style. Let it be some time into the future. Sam could be played by another more mature actor and be married with Carly. And their son Daniel could be that anchor whom young Sam was in original trilogy. Looks great in the context of grand finale we had in DOTM, just like the movie 1986 it can become the start of new chapter in history of movie Transformers.

So I'm for sequel trilogy all along.

yeah but why can't it take place just a few years after tf3? it doesnt have to be in the future. I know if Michael Bay is on board, the whole cast will return.

I think we need a new cast and production crew, but keep the same bots. If Batman can go through all of the changes and end up in a good light again, then Transformers should be able to do.

Look, I'm no film expert, but there are assistant directors for every film, and I'm sure there has to be a protoge under Michael Bay, why can't that person direct the next movies???

No. THE SAME CAST. THE SAME DIRECTOR.
ALL OF THE REMAINING AUTOBOTS TO RETURN
HUMAN CHARACTERS: SAM WITWICKY, CARLY, and SIMMONS.
otherwise, then it's not the same story!!!! no new cast! no new director! it wouldn't make sense for there to be new human characters. Sam is the only human that the autobots are friends with and saved the world along. it just wouldn't make sense. I mean, it's not even worth it if the fourth one is all changed all of the sudden. I don't care how other movies change. TRANSFORMERS ISNT ANY OLD OTHER MOVIE TO ME. michael bay was born to direct transformers. No one else! And for a transformers 4, WE need the same characters! the same characters! PERIOD. I'm getting a little angry here to be honest..These transformers movies is to me what g1 is to the whiney g1 fans. If no fourth one with THE SAME continuing story, and without michael bay, THEN DONT BOTHER MAKING ANOTHER TRANSFORMERS. DONT BOTHER!

I agree with you once again...it just wouldn't be worth watching if they reboot it...if shia doesn't come back then concentrate on NEST and the Autobots

Exactly! But people should stop thinking that what Shia said is the final answer. It's NOT a done deal. Shia said he won't be back because he feel that there's nothing left for Sam...He feels there's no way he can contribute. HOWEVER, if michael bay is director again, and they come to shia with a really good script that has a good Next chapter for Sam then he will be there. I'm sure of that. The writers are improving. Just look at the third one. the third one was awesome and better than the first two put together in my opinion. I'm sure Ehren Kruger will come up with a good fourth and final chapter for all of the human characters and transformers if needed. So, Shia will be back if they need him there. and for a fourth one, i want michael bay to direct, and the whole cast to return. Without michael bay directing, and the story continuing, then it won't be worth it for me...Other movies change, I know. But transformers is not just ANY OLD MOVIE for me...I dont care what other movies do and how they change! Transformers is just too good for that, especially with this third one.

Isn't it possible to bring back Megatron, Starscream and the rest of them anyway? If I remember in the old cartoon the 'soul' of the robot is the spark in there chest - If it is not destroyed then all the decepticons can potentially return! Obv they would need the matrix or some other energon source or All spark fragment.

Haha plot for transformers 4 - Unicron appears, along with an army of new decepticons to destroy the earth and the universe - Optimus has to revive Megatron and Co and work together (for a bit!) to stop Unicron!! Would be crazy. Starscream sacrifices himself and blasts Unicron.
