I Fight Giant Robots
Loved:
Brains - everything from him in the movie was great
Shia - did a great job on the emotional scenes
Megatron - great robot and alt mode
The D-con ships - their sound and the two types of guns they have
The scene when the Autobots were driving to the Space Center - great music, awesome shot with the helicopter in slow motion
The look on Optimus face when he understood that Sentinel betrayed them
The Russian bar - especially Turturro speaking in German to Dutch
The POV shot of Top Spin shooting at Sentinel (like an FPS game)
Sentinel as a character
The shot and sound of the exploded shuttle
The chase
The wingsuit
The Driller
Soundwave
Epps
Frances McDormand
Optimus' armory
Hated:
John Malkovich - Bumblebee scene
The parents
Ironhide's death
The quick end after the final battle
Not many new D-con characters only shots of them
Small parts of Dino and Q
Best part - Sentinel VS Optimus.....VS Megatron.
Worst - erm....honestly...I'm struggling. Loved the film, even the mediocre parts didn't bother me too much.
I loved everything, but hated the small role Scrapper had in DOTM. (just watched the film btw)
I would have wanted Scrapper to fight against Optimus, since that character is HUGE.
I know the political context and the movie context, and still I think that was wrong. And I know things like that are always done in movies and shows, but still I think in this movie it was wrong.
I don't want to start a political discussion here, so I will only say why I think is out of place in the movie context.
It's easy, Autobots are supposed to be real good guys, not some kind of rogue mercenaries. The fact that they landed in the US is supposed to be casual, so there's no reason for them to protect the US interests over other countries interests. Also that particular sequence was portrayed in a very serious tone (with optimus speech and the music), not in the "we know this madness, but is extremely cool so who cares" way something similar was done in Bad Boys 2.
They shouldn't go undercover into other countries to blow up other governments installations (and the fact that they where disguised as Iranian official cars makes me think that installation was a government one). It just doesn't fit the characters. Stoping a war? That fits in the "don't let humans hurt themselves", screwing other countries development? Here we are going into difficult territory, and not in the side I think is the correct one.
The part that bothers me is not what the Autobots do, but what Optimus says when they come back. Don't remember the exact quote but it was about teaching a lesson to human leaders.Part 2: I don't think the Autobots hide and let Chicago get destroyed, they just had to make their way back and we don't know how far away the booster landed...unless I missed that. Again, my personal view, I didn't see it as a "teach the humans a lesson" so much as they did what had to be done to protect humans. If they didn't leave and just picked a fight they could have lost everything.
It was something I would expect from Punisher (who really is a bloodthirsty psychopath, even thought fights "with the good guys") but not from Optimus (even thought it makes sense with the movie situation, but makes him look anything but noble, and is contradictory with all his "freedom is sacred, this is your world, you rule" words).
Right now, my particularly favorite scene would be the one where Bumblebee kicks Sam out, transforms to fight off some Decepticons while poor Sam is flailing helplessly in the air, and then transforms back into car mode with a screaming Sam safe back inside him. Now that shit was fantastic.
Least favorite scene, the whole first day on the job and Wang scene, that was plain dumb.
Best Part - The Betrayal
Worst Part - The Betrayal
hence the irony...man, was SP the biggest BA of them all! He would have taken Megatron and OP out. They don't make TF's like that anymore.
