While conducting on lnternet search, I notice one source that claimed Japan has the second largest film market. Is that anywhere near accurate? I ask because we know Japan is the last major market within which DOTM is to be released, and I was curious as to whether that market was large enough to push DOTM over the $1 billion mark?

I don't know about second biggest market, in what regards? Behind another foreign entity outside of the USA and Canada, or behind USA and Canada?

But with that aside, it seems in major foreign markets, DOTM is doubling it's gross from what ROTF got. If the trend continues, I'm seeing 44 million from Japan, and 120ish-130 from China.

I'm sure China and Japan will help push DOTM to 1 bil

I believe this : Transformers will be behind Harry Potter worldwide only to 1 place or 2 and Harry Potter will be behind Transformers only to 1 place or 2 domestically . This gives Transformers the 2011 title at last ....
Also for China and Japan of course i agree these 2 will help Transformers to break the billion but with Harry potter closely behind and then Potter will top Transformers but only to 1 place or 2 as i mentioned before . Unbelievable but this is my thinking and prediction ! BOTH maybe top Lord of the rings or only Potter with Transformers slightly behind it . Beyond the billion everything is uncertain . Viva the Transformers : Entering a new dimension Viva Michael Bay and change your mind ! We want more Transformers films from you

I'm pretty sure China alone has already pushed DOTM to $1 billion by now, considering it's already made $56 million there on its opening weekend (July 21st-24th). So I'm sure when Box Office Mojo updates their statistics in a few days (since it is currently 6 days behind in regards to overseas statistics), it would've passed the $1 billion mark.

Hmm, guess who is winning the Friday box office over TF3, HP8, Captain America and Cowboys & Aliens? That's right - The Smurfs!

Well, Transformers lost the battle again...
It wasn't third time lucky. HP8 has now officially past TF3, even when TF3 has two weeks more running time at the Box Office compared to HP8. It's just not possible to win against a movie that has over a 100 million more fans world wide compared to Transformers...

These numbers were essentials to happen but TF3 is now without Japan's numbers and China numbers as well Let's see in one day or two the most Japan & China will boost TF3 and TF3 will top 1st the billion as i hope so But if not this happen TF3 will top the billion slower fo r 1 or 2 days later and much much more I am looking forward for TF3 to win domestically because i know that worldwide will break over much more of the billion 30 days and is so strong HP will be 1 place or 2 over TF3 but both will be broken several records

Really? I've only seen a few adverts over here in the UK. What sort of stuff are they doing with it?

If the campaign is anything like Avatar's one I'm not surprised at all.

Half of freakin' Cartoon Network's commercials have something to do with The Smurfs.

Explains why I haven't seen any adds either, I don't watch The Cartoon Network.

I don't watch TV at all. I wait for it to come on DVD so I can skip the commercials.

We got to the top ten, and I'm happy with that.

Still, this is only box office, how much money has it won with toys and later on with the DVD/Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray3D release.
