I Fight Giant Robots
They'll make a 4th whether or not it makes a billion.
I expect it'll end up somewhere in the $700m-$800m range, like the last two films.

I Fight Giant Robots
According to deadline.com overseas Box Office is 105Millions (Friday), and the expected 7 days total BO is 400 Millions.
The box office should get further assistance in the US, as the 4th falls on a Monday (further extending the holiday weekend for many). At the same time, I'm curious as to whether there arestill any non-US markets that haven't yet released the movie. If so, that may be afactor, as well (though bootlegged video could easily compromise that). Additionally, box office is only part of the story, as merchandise sales are likely moving nicely, as well.
With so much money involved, I suspect both Hasbro and Paramount will want a fourth installment (or reboot). Mr. Bay will likely stay on as a producer (reaping further benefits from his labor), but there remains the question of whether Hasbro tries to link future Transformers movie efforts to some of their other movie properties.

I'm expecting this movie to get to a billion by the time everything is said and done. Forth movie, either it be a continuation or a reboot is inevitable. It's a massive money making machine, across all boards, movies, TV shows, DVD's, toys, books and other massive merchandise. It's potential is truly unlimited.
Yeah, I guess that's pretty good.Originally Posted by David75sk

Some great news coming in:
- "Paramount heavily marketed the 3D element of Bay’s tentpole, and the efforts paid off."
- "Dark of the Moon has transformed into the third best worldwide debut of all time, smashing records and grossing a whopping $372 million through Sunday."
- "Dark of the Moon is an undisputed monster overseas, where it’s already grossed $210 million, the best debut of all time for Paramount International..."
- "...the biggest opening of all time in seven countries, led by Korea at $28 million and followed by Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Peru."

"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
estimated 162 million after 5 days....not bad...
I still think this film finishes in the low to mid 300 range domestically....say 335 million
Worldwide, i think it falls between 800 and 900 million...
TF3 and the rest of this years slate is going to see what an actuall opening can be when Potter opens in two weeks....
I think Potter beats Dark Knight for largest opening weekend domestically and Pirates 4 for worldwide weekend....then it goes on cruise control and ends up 3rd all time worldwide..
DOTM is going to do solid numbers, so no disappointment here....I have seen it twice. I might go see it again, but Potter now has my full attention.....
Ironhide kills Barricade!!!
Avatar had staying power like no other film except Titanic. It is a poor comparison for DOTM in my opinion... DOTM will lose its presence in theaters after its 4th week. It will have made 80% of its bank by then, but will not hang in the top 5 like Avatar did for so long...

I'm a decepticon and my name is _____ All Hail Megatron!
Several of the box office websites (read: Box Office Mojo) seem to argue that DOTM didn't do as well as ROTF in the US so far because people didn't think ROTF was very good. I honestly am not a fan of BOM because they seem to add commentary to what should really be straight forward stats, and (I think) for a while changed the budget of ROTF to skew how much profit it made. (This is a total conspiracy theory on my part, I could be smoking crack.)
But does that original DOTM argument make sense? I'm asking honestly because perhaps I'm missing something here.
ROTF made $836+ million dollars, so obviously somebody though it was good. It also made $217+ million in home media sales, which I think is the best indication of whether people like a movie, because they spent their hard earned dollar to own it. That made it first in sales revenue for 2009, second in units sold to Twilight, and actually topped Avatar in both (units sold by a slim margin, sales revenue by almost $35 million!); I know people really like to compare it to Avatar.
So while ROTF was a critical failure, it wasn't an audience failure, or a home media failure.
So what do you attribute the lower box office to? The economy? The bloom off the rose of 3D? Something else?
Or do you think that people honestly didn't go see DOTM because critics thought ROTF sucked?

BoxOfficeMojo is a Harry Potter lovers website...and loaded with assholes of the highest order...especially the jackass that runs and writes for the site.
Makes me wonder if they're owned by Warners.
-----
On another note...on the MB.com site, they discuss the box-office for DOTM and seem to think it will gross $18+ million on Monday.
I find that highly unlikely, since it's July 4th...and many people will be a bbqs during the day and firework shows at night.
I hope they're right, but if it clears $10m I'll be pretty happy.

There's always a good argument when comparing box office figures because for example RotF was largely in $8 and $9 ticket sales where DotM's figure is made up of a lot of $17+ IMAX 3D ticket sales.
Remember that when adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind continues to have the highest box office gross of all time.
(Think about it; when Star Wars was released the first time admission was around $4, so when you're paying $17 it takes far fewer tickets sold to become #1.)
The final Harry Potter film will quickly obliterate TF3's revenue figures, so at least DotM can hold on to the 4th of July figure for at least a year.
The film has won about 400 million already, right? Even with HP8 coming out in 2 weeks, not only there's enough time to get to the billion, but it hasn't (unfortunately) arrived to Japan!
How much money, or should I say millions, can it win over there? DOTM will win a lot of money!
