    http://www.imdb.com/boxoffice/alltim...?region=non-us

This means that if the numbers stay that way DOTM will score a 170% better result than Pirates 4 internationally. Which is $2 billion.
Of course this is just an interpretation of a one day result but don't forget that DOTM opened on Wednesday when it is even harder to make such huge results. Imagine what will happen during the weekend.
Nelson I really hope that you'll be able to post the same results for the other days too. I think that DOTM is about to make a history in the international box office. Of course not like Avatar but maybe close to Titanic.

Your math is a little wrong...

    One example:

    Ukraine: 48.000 000 people
    Russia: 140.000 000 people

38% of russia is MORE then 50% of Ukraine

In Russia: (pirates has 38% more)
So, let's say that 1 000 000 people saw DOTM
    then 1 000 000 + 38% = 1 380 000 people saw P4

In Ukraine: (Pirates has 50% less)
let's say that 750 000 people saw DOTM
    then 750 000 000 - 50% = 500 000 people saw P4

The way you added, TF has more % then P4, but... more people say Pirates4

you are not taking into consideration the population of those countries,

NOTE: This is proof that you CAN be wrong, BUT it does NOT prove that you are.

I hope DOTM makes more them 1 Billion

I don't think Paramount will make any final decisions until they get a couple of weeks worth of box-office data.

If they decide to go forward with another, I hope they get it started right away.

No they don't ! TFS 4 will be under investigation for a long time after TF3 results [ New heroes , a different mystery script hopefully , devastated Cybertron [possible spoiler], Unicron , Galvatron e.t.c , new way story e.t.c ] ! The page has turned for a new beginning . We all hope for the billion this time for TF3 and much more for 2011 !

Yep, I know. That's not what I wanted to prove. I just wanted to see what's the average percentage by which DOTM is higher than Pirates 4. That's 170% - not taking in consideration any country and its population. It's just a rough arithmetics.

    By the way 750 000 - 50% is 375 000.

Paramount has had a 2 year turn-around for the last 2 movies.
It DOTM makes enough, they'll get on the horse and fast-track a 4th.

Also, there is 0.0% that DOTM will pass a billion. It's not even going to make as much as ROTF.

Why are you so sure? Pirates 4 made a billion worldwide. And the domestic result of Pirates 4 is $230M. And now we have information that DOTM is surpassing by far Pirates 4 in the international box office.

Even if DOTM sells less tickets than ROTF it will cash more, because 3D showings cost a lot more (almost double in some places!)!

The weekend estimates (based on ticket pre-sales and early returns) are $95-$100m for the 4-day weekend here in the U.S.

That would put DOTM's total at about $160m for it's first 6 days.
ROTF was at about $215m over 6 days...and without a holiday boost.

I'm really happy to see it kicking ass on the int'l market.
It's going to need big numbers from overseas, since U.S. movie-goers suck big-time.

American TF fans need to get their asses out to see DOTM this weekend!!
I'm going to see it again soon (probably tomorrow).

One thing I noticed was that DOTM is showing in fewer theaters than ROTF.

Here are the theaters counts for each...
    ROTF: 4234
    DOTM: 4011

NELSON, can you please tell me why this is (if you know)?
    Thanks...

    are you forgetting something .
    ROTF was just a 2D film .
but DOTM is 3D so being a 3D film it has crossed 4000+ thats a huge thing .
This the victory Michael Bay had promised us many years ago !!!

I'm thinking they do have a hot franchise, with just as many fans, if not more than Transformers. Star Trek.

    Agreed...

I just wish JJ Abrams would get off his ass and start the next Trek movie.

Tell me about it, before the perfect cast goes on to other projects. While I think Chris Pine will end up being a 1 trick pony, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban are some pretty talented actors, and Zoe Saldana is poised to become the next Hollywood IT girl! Or, she should be.

DOTM did worse than ROTF's opening. Mr. Bay scared away people with his juvenile comic relief last time around. Nothing changed in this one. Still there, just less of it. Thanks Mr. Bay, thanks.:head

But yet, had the biggest opening day of the year. It just might be one of those years where the USA recession is in full swing, and the BO is proving it. I will wait for HP and Twilight to come out to make a final judge of it, but the big thing is, all movies except Fast and Furious 5 are underperforming this year.

In recent years i've seen a decline in US & Canada boxoffice, but in return foreign markets flourish. DOTM Easily will achive 800$ milions if it gets 200$ milions in foreign boxoffice this weekend.

So to sum things up for the USA box office.

    Tuesday - $5.5M
    Wednesday - $37.5M
    Thursday - $21.4M
    Friday - $33.5M

    Total for 4 days - $98M

For comparison Avatar made $93M for the same period.
