Box Office Results: Crossed the $1 billion mark

So the opening screenings have passed and now it's time for the official premieres. I've always loved movie statistics and the box office results definitely needs a thread of it's own. We know that many things are decided by these numbers and there is one certain thing - DOTM won't fail.
I guess tomorrow we'll have the first box office results, but until then let's check some forecasts by some box office sites.

Of course nothing is certain but I continue to think that DOTM will easily surpass the $1 billion mark. I'm confident that the movie will take the 3rd spot in the all time worldwide box office from Return of the King ($1.1 billion).

And there's a hell of a fight coming our way with HP. So I'm eager to see the first estimated results tomorrow.

Box office mojo is being run by Harry Potter and Nolan lunatics, which is why they are low balling TF3. TF3 would probably make 200 million by next week alone in the DOM.

As said in an old post, I believe it will make about $1.4 billion, you should consider that 3D tickets cost more!

Now I'm just hoping it'll reach $300m in the U.S.

In my opinion, first week doesn't always count. It takes time for people to know that there's a 3rd TF movie coming out and so far, other than in today's newspaper, just saying how the TF premiere was, I haven't seen any posters in the city, like the Sentinel Prime poster. How can you expect people to know that something like that is in the cinemas?
Box-office results always depend on the many weeks to follow. I believe that TF DOTM will score sky-high, pulling in many people eager to see the movies. Besides, with 3D and prices up, it should make easily more money, right?
This is how much I paid in the past, and how much I will be paying after-tomorrow:
TF ROTF entry: 15.50 CHF (about 16$)
TF DOTM 3D entry: 18.50 (about 19$)
In Switzerland, it's always been about money, ripping people off. XD How much are you guys paying? More or less?

$26 AUD per ticket for Imax 3D tickets... BUT it is the 3rd largest Imax 3D screen in the world... not sure about regular cinema prices.

I think we need to give it a couple of days. I think things are going to happen just like when Avatar did. Word spreads and people will consistently start to come see the movie until it is out of theaters. At least I hope.

i was expected more money, because a 3D ticket cost more than a normal ticket, but i don't think that will make as much as TF 2.

I think the result is pretty good. DOTM made $13.5 million (with midnight) in 2700 theaters and Cars 2 - $7 million from 4100 theaters. I think Wednesday will be the first day that we can make definite conclusions. Also I'm sure that the interest for the movie will rise and maybe people are waiting for the 4th of July weekend and don't forget that the first screenings (at 9) were only for IMAX.

It may have the Avatar effect....a slow start, but a long solid run. I think it can easily make the top 10 worldwide, even possibly top 5. I'm sure of it. Word of mouth for the 3D is already spreading quick. A lot of people I know were going to wait until weekend to see 2D, but now they already have tickets for tonight in seeing it in AVX 3D or IMAX 3D.

BTW, AVX are new Cineplex's that have 7.1 audio and wall-to-wall screen and fully digital projector & reclining seats!

There is this possibility that people are just rejecting the 3D all together. I also figured about 3 to 6 million will be lost because of the die hard Megan Fox fans (like it or not, she did bring in the perverts, there was always some random guy whistling at her opening butt shot in ROTF)

But, then maybe people are like me, just waiting for the weekend to watch the movie.
