i think i can grasp the main concept of Ironhide's death:
Of all the autobots present, SP killed Ironhide first. Why? Because after Prime, IH is the most fearsome opponent in the whole freaking movie! SP feared Ironhide and chose to shoot him in the back rather than face him honorably. Get it? Ironhide is so powerful that even SP had to resort to cowardice to take him out. SP was afraid of him. To me, thats a tribute to Ironhide's badass-ness!

I said I don't mind how he died, what Ironhide fans are pissed about that next scene is a stupid ass comedy scene that totally derails the whole emotional aspect, and that we see no grieving at all, at any time from Optimus, Lennox or Epps, who were Ironhide's best friends, or Sideswipe who was his protege.. At least Q got "Farewell old friend" from Bumblebee, Ironhide got nothing............................ Do you see what we are getting at?

And then, throughout the whole movie, he wasn't mentioned again. Would it kill anybody for maybe Optimus, at the very end, maybe show that he will miss Ironhide, like he did for Jazz????? Unless, Ironhide really isn't dead. Then, maybe I'll come back here in 3 to 5 years and be like, thank God that's why there was no mourning, because he never really died.
There's a time and place to mourn and at that point in the film, there were bigger things to deal with. The humor in the next scene was just to lighten things up a bit. I think it's safe to say Ironhide won't be returning, SP's weapons desolved most of him. Unless they give him a new body or something.

It's war. Bots are gonna die, sometimes in the most outrageous ways.

As far as Ironhide goes, mourning his death afterwards doesn't seem necessary. Sentinel Prime's betrayal is the main plot point, not Ironhide's death. Look at the scores of humans that were literally vaporized under Sentinel's watch.

The way I see it, Sentinel's BRUTAL death at the hands of Optimus Prime serves as pure retribution for Ironhide's death. (As well as the other horrible things he did.)

I am an Ironhide fan myself. Please don't generalize.

I do think part of Optimus' actions from then onwards is dictated by the fact Ironhide was killed.... and that Sentinal was the one to do it and then go on to doing what he did next.

All in all, I think Sentinel totally got what he deserved. He killed a fellow 'Bot in cold blood, made a pact with the bad guys, let thousands of humans die in horrific ways under his watch, and was even willing to enslave the surviving humans to serve his agenda. He gives Autobots a bad name.

Didn't Sentinel teach Optimus that "freedom is the right of all sentient beings?" If that's the case, Optimus wasn't shitting when he said Sentinel betrayed himself.

I am thinking with the Top Kick being taken out of commission is exactly why Ironhide's body wilted away, but I swore I saw his spark chamber just fall underneath all the rust, it didn't rust like the rest of him, and with all of them Decepticon drones that were left behind, Ratchet, Optimus with his Matrix, Ironhide's spark, well, you get the picture.

And I don't know how many times I have to tell you people, something could have been said at the end. Optimus could have said "This is for Ironhide" and he proceeds to double tap Sentinel, or Lennox at the end say he's going to miss the big guy. Hey, they had no problems sticking in Bumblebee's "Farewell old friend" when Q died, in the middle of a war zone, but they couldn't squeeze in something for Ironhide. Whatever, movie is perfect for you guys, it wasn't for me.

transformers 3 is my most favorite movie in the world. Saw it for a second time last night. TF3 is the ideal transformers movie, in my opinion. It was a great sci fi film and all of the characters improved from the last two, especially the humans.

Did anyone else notice the name of the shuttle attached to the ship the Autobots built?

I felt like there was A LOT more they could have done with Sentinel Prime. There should have been, for example, a flashback scene with him and Optimus on Cybertron. The end lacks some emotional resonance when Optimus is killing both his brother and his mentor. Shouldn't it have gone down this way: Megatron mortally wounds SP, Optimus intervenes and kills Megatron, and then Optimus has a last word with SP before he dies. Having Optimus just swiftly kill them both didn't seem right.

And forget not mourning Ironhide, none of the Autobots even looks up in the sky to recognize that Cybertron was just destroyed.

Eaps was clearly very upset about Ironhide.

I'm surprised none of you hardcore types are having a conniption about Barricade's appearance in the film.

I'm absolutely not saying that I "liked" how it was handled; I'm saying that I don't really have a strong opinion either way and it certainly hasn't caused me to have a conniption.

So no, I'm not fucking kidding you, and no, I'm not one of them brown nosers. Are there any other options?

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I am a cognitive scientist, and a scholar, and all I'm saying that just because you think Ironhide was pissed on doesn't make it so. It doesn't take even a high school graduate to understand that.

I just want to say that I honestly had not seen your use of conniption before my use of conniption. I'm not trying to copy you. Honestly.

Megatron was in a weakened state, He was clearly low on energon which is why he looked so bad. So him being killed so easily didn't surprise me at all, and he did damage SP enough for Optimus to deliver the final blow.

How do you know they didn't mourn the loss of Ironhide? They could've done that off screen. Cybertron was a dead world, any mourning that would've happened the day Prime and the others left their lifeless world.
