Pretty cool read!
Little crazy but ..fun!!!
Seems super tiring but sounds like a lot of fun! I would want to do that any day.
"My story is of many thousands, and the world will not suffer if it ends too soon."
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Nooooooo!"
Haha!
I'll be keeping an ear out for the "Oh my Gosh! Nooooooo!" on Tuesday.![]()
I hate haters...
Because "Dark of the Moon was f*cking robbed."
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they're genuine." - Abraham Lincoln
Sounds like a looong day, but it would be worth it just to be a part of filming.
I was also lucky enough to be a extra in this movie and had a similar experience. Best 3 days of my summer in 2010.
I had a great time too, I was an extra in September and was fitted for two different scenes, and ended up being filmed for a total of three "parts". Michael Bay personally picked me and a few other folks to be part of a thing where they were having us pose and taking pictures of us.
Then I saw this in the "Cover Up" TV ad:

That's me in the background!I'm on a PROP! It was fun, showed up at 5:30am and worked for 10.5 hours. I'm glad I didn't have to wait around much like some of the other extras that were there. They must have been sitting in a room for at least 3 hours!
I too, was lucky enough to be an extra. I haven't seen any footage of the scene I was a part of, hopefully it makes the movie.
I will add that the Transformers crew treated us extras very well. I was an extra for Real Steel also, and was treated poorly.
haha I'll look out for a guy screaming, "oh my goshh, ohh my gosh. NOOOOO."

Had to see the movie again just to be sure, but I ended up in three different parts of the movie. Very minor spoilers, so I darkened the text. Unfortunately there's no text color that matches the forum background.
1.The quick shot of the moon landing parade right before we go inside the Ark to see Sentinel (just before the main titles), I'm on the left side of the screen waving a big flag!
2. The first shot inside a building in Chernobyl where we see two guys walking towards the camera as the camera pans to their feet, I'm on the left side of the screen walking away from the camera.
3. Already shown in the TV commercial "Cover Up", I'm in a photo in a newspaper clipping from a pack of documents given to Sam by "Deep Wang". That would be awesome if Bay & co. would be so kind to give me that prop as a souvenir![]()
Hello everyone! Aaron Ruffcorn here (author of 'My Day as an Extra on DOTM')
Thanks for all the comments and kind words, they've been fun to read...
I saw DOTM last night, and yeah! I'm in there! Stoked! No natural sound was used (so no "oh my gaaash") but I'm at the very front of a big pack of extras, running towards the camera (it's a wideshot, and I'm in the lower left of the screen -- it's basically the final photo of the above post, just earlier in the shot). Next time I see it I'll try and figure out the time-code or whatever. I went with a big group of friends, and about half of them claim they'd recognized me, so that's nice to know. I was also an extra in 'Spiderman,' and made the cut there too, but I'm like a single pixel and no one can recognize me, LOL. Good redemption with TF3. Really fun. Surreal night.
Btw, congratulations to the other extras here that also made the cut! Way cool, it's fun to read all this stuff!
As a side, I personally think DOTM is the best Transformers film to date, by far. And not because I'm in it, LOL.

As a Milwaukee local, I must say that I thought the Milwaukee Art Museum looked AMAZING. It was really fun to see those scenes/shots (filmed just down the street from my apartment). I walked down last summer and watched some of the filming, saw Shia, Rosie and Bay. That was before I had been cast for the Chicago gig. Such a fun summer it was! I'm stoked to see the film again, really enjoyed it.

The shot I'm visible in is right at the 1:35:53 mark.
Here are a couple amateur videos, shot by onlookers, of the very shot:
