And furthermore, what do the names used in the US audio version have to do with the Japan broadcast? They changed half the cast's name for the Japanese dub anyway.

That part I don't know. But my point is, the Mirage/Ferrari name debacle isn't the first time a character had different names in different formats (comic, movie, toy) for legal reasons.

I find this unbelievable. Why? Because why would Bay devote that much time talking to some random guy(s) he doesn't even know while he could be busy filming?

Because Bay wasnt filming at the time and we were invited to see the sets, talk to Bay, get Autographs and everyone knows Bay loves to talk about what he is doing and loves to show off his work. while on set, we were told the hover drone would be a Con ship, we were told about the Wreckers, Shadow was allowed to sit in the Wreckers, Ironhide and Optimus, Bay told us of scenes that were being shoot there and who and what bots (code named) would be in what shoots. And who says Bay doesnt know us? We may not be guys that are at his side like Nelson, but I have had the privilege to meet and talk to Bay twice and my brother has talked to him many times.

This is common though. A lot of names get changed from the script to the final movies. If he was not named Mirage in the script, what was he called? You say NOW that he will have a human based name and not a real TF name?

According to what Nelson said over at TFW2005, his code name in the script was "Enzo", among other names.

Skyfire. He was Jetfire in the G1 cartoon. They had to change his name, and his character model, for the show because the Jetfire toy was actually derived from one of Takara's competitors in Japan. (of course that was 25 years ago, things have changed since then, but still.)

The toy is VF-1 Battroid Valkyrie from Takatoku Toys and seen in Robotech/Macross and animated as a triple changer based on the toy design which was released in 1983. The original Soundwave toy (before becoming Soundwave with takara/hasbro) was released mid 70s, most original G1 toys were just rerelease`s/repaints etc of toys released in one form or another over 25 years ago.

the only reason people are saying that the red farrari is mirage is because there was a red bot in the prequel comics called mirage. Notice I say bot as he was not seen in his earth form so mirage could infact be in the film as a different earth mode. Then again he may not be in the film. I mean wheeljack has not been confirmed in the movie so he may not be there.

we will all find out very shortly what the ferrari is called like thats gonna spoil the movie if its not mirage not for me. A name is a name thats all.

Maybe you havn't watched the new t.v. spot yet, or refuse not to because you don't want to be "spoiled" but there is a red "bot" in the new TV spot that IS the same "bot" as seen in the Children's picture book. The name happens to be Mirage. (This also goes for Wheeljack, who has also been spotted in the trailer) They're both in the movie.
