    Default NElson

Has Bay given any serious consideration to slowing down the battles between the robots so that they audience will be able to see more? One of my main problems was that the fights sometimes looked like big hunks of metal. Also in the final battle he jumped from one fight to the next to quickly. Also will digital domain take a larger role in the next movie?

No i liked the fights. It's just they went by to fast at times. when optimus fights megatron the camera doesn't stay completely on that fight the whole time. That just irked me. I felt like the final battle is something that would be the main focus.the end of the battle with same actually "beating" Megatron was a jip for me.

I like the movie and I appreciated it for the fact that it was a family movie and that is what transformers should be. Which is why i don't want it to get obsessively violent.

how do i put this........ with some tweaking here are there the next film will be better than the first. But i'm no film Director or any thing like that so i have nothing bad to say about the film.

All i can say is that i have enjoyed the film many many times over.
yes seeing more of the last fight would have been nice. But i'm sure Mr Bay and the team know what worked and did not work for the next film.

I don't know how the film rating system work's over there in the U.S.A but it got rated M here in Australia (M is for Mature 16teen and up) and your over?

Just a thought here.... Spend a bit more money on cgi and complete all the missing fight scenes from the first movie as separate clips and put them as extras on a "special" dvd.

This way the viewer could pick any battle and watch it from start to finish

    I.E Bumblebee's battle with Barricade.

i agree....the fight between bumblebee and barricade in the beginning, for example, had parts that i could not comprehend at all what was going on. It definitely looked like bug hunks of yellow, black, and white metal rolling around.

I agree 100%. That and the shaky cam didn't help either. Loved the battles to death but some improvements can definitely be made, which of course you can't blame Bay for. He did the best he could then. Nobody had attempted to giant robot fights in live action like this before. So hopefully it was a learning experience for him.

While I agree I prefer to be focused on one fight for instead of switching in the middle of all these fights multiple times. It did seem to work for a giant showdown at the end. But I definitely don't want to see that again in the sequel. A giant showdown between a ton of bots I'm down for, just not having things cut in the middle from one battle to the next only to go right back to the previous one.

speaking of missing scenes......I just can't help but think Starscream joined the attack on megatron during the final battle. Hell there were quite a few raptors in the air.....who could tell if he was or wasn't there

YESSSS!!!! I would absolutely wonderfully terrifically LOVE to see this happen! Would be awesome to see if Barricade actually has a weapons arsenal such as cannons/guns apart from his melee weapon of the gyro flight blades and to explain how the one on one combat became a shoot out with Bumblebee (remember BB retracting his cannon after the battle?)

I found that too in every fight/transforming scene at the movies but to watch the movie at home on a smaller screen I can make out so much more detail and specific character that it makes much more sense and is much more fantastic

Someone on here has got that Starscream starting attacking the raptors then joined in the attack as their signature (I'm hopeless with names ~ sorry!) and I watched the scene for this specifically but can't be sure either way. Scene goes from Starscream attacking raptors in flight, transforming back to jet for the scene to cut to the bombing on Megatron... maybe we have to make up our own minds on that one? What would Starscream do? Hmm

just like a real car accident, how can that be remotely enjoyable? Being able to comprehend what your seeing makes for entertaining. And no, you don't have to slow things down liek the Matrix.

I think the shaky cam effect made the audience/viewer feel like they were literally in the battle. I enjoyed that...which is what is making me more and more eager about cloverfield.

No problem with the Shakey Cam. I'm all for it, just show the whole battle

I'm all for slowing down the fight scenes, you know, like that panic mode right before a crash occurs and you see your life flash before your eyes.

Yeah, had that feeling come over once or twice in my life. Everything's slow motion....up until it happens.

I think the issue with that was the movie budget. I think they wanted more robot action and to have scenes with robots most of the time but the fact of the lack of budget is what stopped that.

To be quite honest I didn't mind some of the slow motion in the fight scenes but slowing the entirety of the fight scenes down just a bit wouldn't hurt.

More wide shots and less fast editing/shakey cam wouldn't hurt. Bay is very much capable of delivering amazing wide shots. Pearl Harbor, for instance, has a a lot of spectacular ones during the action scenes, and hell, even the rest of film is filled with them. Some of the coolest shots in Transformers were the big wide shots including the one in the beginning where we see - from distance - Blackout shooting all over the base and right and the end where he takes out the planes. The shot with Optimus and Bonecrusher during the highway chase is awesome as well. I think Bay sais it's his favourite shot from the entire film on the audio commentary.

I hear yah. About 8 years ago, I rolled an '85 Honda Accord......talk about slow-mo.....I was doing about 75 mph on a highway heading home after work...moved to the slow lane to pass some cars.....then I saw the brake lights come on from the car in front of me. I hit the brakes, and the left front wheel locked up and pulled my car into the middle lane. I hit the right rear fender of the car in the middle lane causing him to spin out, then he hit a car in the far left lane causing it to spin out.....in the meantime, my car had bounced off the highway and I was skidding sideways accross the grass trying to straighten the car out. I'm not sure what I hit, but the passenger side rear wheel folded inwards causing my car to roll over three or four times and finally landing on it's roof. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, but I managed to roll with the car, and I never left the driver's seat. When the car stopped, I climbed out the window with only a tiny bruise on my right shoulder..................Damn I was lucky

Moral of the Story........Don't drive shitty old Imports
