Default The Thing prequel moves to October instead of next month

Universal's upcoming prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 Sci-fi horror masterpiece has moved to October in time for halloween instead of April, i think it's a good move just to be around the best time for horror movies.

I can't wait, i always adored John Carpenter's masterful remake of the 1951 movie since i was 14 and has been one of my favorites of all time. I hear they are gonna mix old school and new school effects in this one and tells us from the norweigens point of view.

I'm looking forward this too. Carpenter's movie is a masterpiece in horror/alien movies.

Let's just hope that this is as good as Carpenter's original movie.

I'm sure it will be awesome like Carpenter's Sci-fi horror classic, but did you know the 1982 movie was a remake of 1951's movie yet he improved on it but making it more true to the novel that inspired it. The 1982 movie was a box-office flop because it came out in the summer of E.T. as audiences were shocked and repelled by the film as some of the critics trashed the film especially Roger Ebert who gave it one and a half star stating "A great barf bag of a movie that only grosses out people than care for characters" but what did they know? it became an instant cult classic when it became successful on rentals, video, laserdisc, DVD and Cable viewings over the years thus critical reappriasal began even with Mick Martin and Marsha Porter of DVD/Video Guide gave it 4 and half stars over 5.

This prequel might be compelling and scary like the original.

We're sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.
    Went looking and found it.

I had heard that this was going to be a prequel of sorts but this just looks like a flat-out remake.

IT'S NOT A REMAKE, it's a Prequel and takes place a week before the infected dog goes to the outpost 31 in the first movie.

Did you know Carpenter's movie was a remake of a hokey but good 1951 movie? the 1951 movie originally was suppose to have a shapeshifter but due to the lack of technology or time in the 50's they had a man in a carrot-frankenstein outfit instead. Carpenter grew up with the original movie when he was a kid as it's one of his fave movies and grew up with the novel "Who goes there" which inspired the 1951 Howard Hawks movie, Carpenter made a movie that was better than the original.

I'm likeing it so far. I just hope I will have time to watch it. October is going to be a busy month for me.

Who thinks this will be as shocking as the 1982 original and looks almost like it's based on 1951's The Thing from Another World than the Joseph Campbell novella?

Actually this would be some kind of tongue-twister movie.

It's the prequel of a sequel of a book adaptation. And also it's simultaneously the remake of the sequel and the remake of the first movie.

    Me too.

Have you read the novella "Who Goes There" which influenced both 1951 and 1982 versions? excellent stuff, Joseph Campbell was a Sci-fi legend.

    Who saw the TV Spot?

And now there is a short prequel comic book at the dark horse comics site. It's free, you only need an account there.

Just saw it and it was great fun, a worthy prequel to the brilliant re-adaptation of John Campbell's novel "Who Goes There".

Was this even out very long? I got to thinking about it today remembering that I checked for it a month ago or late part of Oct.

At least I went ahead and added it to my Netflix Q.
