Update (09:31 AM) - Kantō region in Japan goes rolling balckout due to power shortages caused by the earthquake and tsunami. For example, my town will lose power for several hours in the daytime.

My first two thoughts were where is my old roommate and where is Sora. I know Sora is okay, but Minami is still unknown.

We just felt another aftershock on the platform but everyone here seems to have strong willingness to go to work. It's great to see people keeping the work ethic and the spirit of cooperation high even in a time of emergency.

Many of us now have a phone app that detects the primal wave of earthquake and notifies it. So, even in such a packed train, some can tell others that "Brace youself, it's coming" before impact.

Tay, PM me if you have any further info of your roommate (e.g. full name, age and where she came from) to find out if she's okay.

Sadly, another explosion just happend in #3 unit. The container of the reactor is okay and the inner pressure is stably under control. What they have to do now is to patiently keep cooling it down.

Don't panic. As you said, radiation was detected in Tokyo, too, but it's a very tiny amount so far. However, it's a serious danger to people living in the vicinity of the plant. 400 mSv/h of radiation was measured around the reactor. I truly hope they'll safely evacuate.

I just found out that my childhood best friends causin was close to one of the nuclear power plants in Japan when the earthquake happened, I am praying he is ok cause no one has heard from him yet

In my town, shelves in stores are half empty. Bread, rice, eggs, milk, tofu, snacks, kleenex, maglites, batteries, rechargers, radio and stoves have been all out of stock (even in online stores, too). My friend over another board reported that Burger King is out of frenchfries. This is not as a big deal as the damage of devastated area at all, but food/supplies shortage, traffic/logistics disruption and blackout going on here slowly let people's feelings down.

Thanks CB, Tay. I believe things will get better. What we Japanese people outside the most devastated area should do now is to get a grip and work hard to maintain economic stability for disaster restoration. Checking in on S4TE as usual really helps to keep myself sane.

Thankfully, despite these supply shortage, there've been neither price-gouger nor looters in Japan.
