When I heard in the news about the earthquake in Japan, I immidiately thought of you, sora. Hope you are ok.

Hawaii has also had a small 4.5 earthquake this morning and they are predicting the tsunami and or its after effects to maybe even reach the U.S and Canadian West coasts.

The low lying areas of Washington State and California are now being asked to evacuate.

one worry for me is that nuke power plant that's having trouble.... keep on hearing how the efforts to deal with it are not going as planned....

Thanks guys. We still feel numerous aftershocks even here in Tokyo, but my family is okay. The initial tremor was huge and long enough to make us feel really alarmed. JP government is now examining the Fukushima nuke plant, no radiation leak is found so far.

The damage in northern Japan is horrible. I hope tsunamis won't affect other countries.

im more worried about the Nuke Plant damage there and them not being able to get it in order. Some TV news stations are reporting that its coolant system has gone on the fritz and there may not be any fail safe plan to correct it? Can someone find out more on this please?

The plant alone could cause more devastation than the quake if it goes up

Even though the situation was horrible, you have to admit that the whirlpool is kind of cool.



I can't understand what is being said, but the woman near the end pretty much makes up for that fact. The language of fear is pretty universal.

the news coming out on that reactor is scary to say the least.... a Japanese safety panel are claiming the radiation level in the reactor is 1000 times higher than the safe level...

i fear this thing is going to go off

My first two thoughts were where is my old roommate and where is Sora. I know Sora is okay, but Minami is still unknown.

Glad to hear you are ok Sora. Hope things get better over there. Earthquake, tsunami, and now a possible chernobyl scenario on top of it, this has got to be one of the worst disasters of the century.
Humans are not the only ones hit. That giant Gundam in Japan got toppled over, its legs are now giant stumps on the landscape.

It turned out that's a faked pic. Gundam is okay.

Not too good. The gov has just announced it seems like fuel melting is partially going on in the Fukushima #1 unit. Cesium leakage was detected.

Update (02:21 AM) - At least, #3 unit was successfully shut down. Authorities are trying to release radioactive steam to relieve pressure from other reactors.

Update (02:49 AM) - There've been several (more than 20) M6 class tremors of different epicenters in wide areas (including Niijima, Tokyo) today. Experts are concerned over the possibility of additional earthquakes induced by the recent major quake.

Update (03:14 AM) - Just felt a minor M4.3 tremor from Tokyo Bay as its epicenter. Hope nothing major happens.

Update (03:41 AM) - Authorities succeeded in releasing steam from #1 unit. Effective depressurization was confirmed.

Update (04:01 AM) - There's been an explosion in #1 unit. Now, the chief cabinet secretary is holding a press conference.

Update (6:29 AM) People within 12 miles of the plant are being urged to evacuate.

What i love is the international help. australia, nz now japan all being helped by the world Emergency people are being flown from nz to japan

Update (07:58 AM) - The metal container of the nuclear reactor is still unharmed. JASDF's C-130 is soon to be dispatched from Komaki Airbase (Nagoya) to fly the additional cooling pump unit.
