Awww shit. I knew there were talks about it, and there was even talk about the award show not even being aired, or just making the winning announcements and handing out none of the awards. I haven't read the article yet that you linked, but I am not surprised. Now we just have to wonder about the Oscars.

The actors are afraid to do it because they don't wanna do anything to get them labeled as unsupportive of the writers. It's only a matter of time before the actors strike to hurry this process along. It should be the same way as if it were DVD sales. An online sale should be viewed the same way that dvd and other sales are viewed and the pay off should apply to the same people.

It would be a disaster if the oscar ceremony doesn't take place. Afcourse the movies/directors/actors get there prices, but not the traditional way it should be. I did read an article that Tom Cruise's his filmcooperation did had an agreement with the writers?

On for the time being, buuuut most of these actors are member's of multiple guilds, they are married to other guild members, or something along those lines. So I wouldn't count on Oscar being aired, and if it is they'll make it just an awards announcement and not a grad ceremony. (think the old days with Newhart)
