It's in both formats. No IMAX native scenes, but definitely IMAX sound.
I will be going to both.
I'm definitely IMAX'ing this.
It will only be in 3D for IMAX but 2D/3D at regular theaters. 3D is a "meh" for me but since Michael Bay said that TF3 was made for 3D then I'm going to take his word for it and watch it in IMAX 3D and regular 2D/3D!
I love the sound of movies in IMAX though!
"My story is of many thousands, and the world will not suffer if it ends too soon."
Imax 3D all the way! Premiere night, again that weekend and then probably a few more times on both formats (2D and 3D) over several weeks. I watched TF1 at the movies 8 times and TF2 4 times (Both Imax and regular cinema screens)
Definitely IMAX 3D
Don't expect everyone to always agree with you
Bay didnt use any IMAX camera in this movie? I loved Forest Battle how it encompassed the entire screen during that screen, it added oomph...
(I just finished writing this and figured I'd advertise it as a bit of a short rant, enjoy)
0% chance I'm watching it in 3D ever. I'm seeing it in IMAX 2D unless it's only offered 3D in IMAX theaters around me in which case I'll just see it in basic 2D format. 3D is just a gimmick used by studios and theaters to prevent piracy. Look at the time-frame and it's pretty easy to tell why it came back in the first place. I agree with preventing piracy because too much time and effort goes into these movies to let people have the full experience for free but 3D is lame. Until they find a way to make it work without those stupid glasses that have gaps of free space in them (why don't they just do a visor line like the dude from Star Trek) I'm not going. Plus, it's not worth the extra money, sometimes the 3D version is actually worse than the 2D version but for some reason it still costs more. Why do so many people buy into fads? It's literally just intelligent/rich people stealing your money. There were reports of people actually getting sick from watching some shoddy 3D but it still costs $3-$4 more. I'm sure Bay did a good job but why would I want things shooting out at me from the screen? I just want to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon the way I grew up watching movie, 2D with surround sound.
Hot Rod: How'd you beat them?
Kup: I'm trying to remember... There were alot of casualties that day.
Though I do agree with pretty much all of what you said, I will probably see TF3 more than once in the theaters and I'll probably see it at least once in 3D just because I may not get a chance to see it in 3D again unless I either strike it rich and buy a 3D TV and Blu-Ray player or find someone who already has it. But that's given it will be released on 3D Blu-Ray.
Most 3D sucks in live action movies because it's converted in post. This movie (Like Avatar) is shot mostly with 3D cameras (probably not all of it as it's been said), so it won't be as bad. But the liking of 3D is definitely subjective. Obviously there's a market for it since they keep making them. But I know that if I end up not liking it in 3D, I'll always have the 2D Blu-Ray to watch it that way and my other couple of 2D viewings in the theaters to satisfy me.
P.S. 3D isn't just about things popping out of the screen......it also adds depth inwardly as well.
In response to ChadWPalm, I didn't ever notice it added depth inwardly as well. If I ever get dragged to another 3D movie I'll make sure to try and pay more attention to the underlying visuals. Thanks.

Only 2D for me. I suffered from slight double vision most of my life and now surgery fixed it. But strangely due to the way there are two scenes over imposed, it brings it all back when watching 3D movies and my eye muscles can't keep up. Is so bothersome.
