You guys might appreciate this. I was tutoring my kindergarteners and there were pictures on the wall of stuff they've done. One thing was "I'm proud to live in the United States of America because..." There were the traditional, "I have a warm bed" or "house" but then things got weird.

...I like to pet cats.
...of taxi cabs.
...I can own a chinchilla.
...I like it.

Can someone from elsewhere tell me if you can't pet a cat in your country?

I come from the cold barren north of Canada, and Stephen Harper says petting cats is strictly prohibited in all areas of the country. Yes, it's a sad life. The poor critters are usually eaten by Grizzlies in the early spring. Mr Harper has even sent out assassins to shoot anyone caught even thinking of laying a hand on a feline. Alas, I must escape through the underground tunnels and hopefully make it to Mexico City. Either that or New York City so I can finally feel the soft, beautiful coat of an orange tabby...
