Why is DC so important in Transformers DOTM?

I was just reading and keeping up on our U.S history and something came to mind. Both the White House and Capital building are suppose to be important buildings and maybe have some point to plot of the movie as in secrets right? In the creation of both the Capital building and the White House, both of their first laid Corner Stones that our founding fathers (Freemasons) placed were later either hidden or taken (as our history states). These corner stones are rumored to hold or hide something inside them that the Freemasons didnt want others to find. One such rumore is that in the Capital Building's Corner Stone is what is believed to be an alternate Declaration of Independence that would lead our nation into a different modern area. What if this history is somehow mentioned in DOTM?

Its funny because If Bay really wanted to, he could use information from any of our Nation's biggest secrets and tie it in to Transformers related events... this is what I love about the movie universe. IDW did a great job of connecting Jetfire to being the cause of the early Spanish/American War as mentioned in the first issue of Sector-7.

In WWII the allied forces stole everything from Germany (art, furniture, even the art the germans had stolen the allied forces stole back from them but did not return all back to the rightful owners, and so on...) just anything that had lots of value at the end of the war, no surprise there and even GI's stole stuff from museums to bring back home as a souvenir.

So yeah, i think Washington is important for TF-DOTM probably...
If they are leaning towards the National Treasure thing.

but the final battle takes place in Chicago so If there is something in DC that has importance to the plot, what from DC would then lead them all to Chicago? What do DC and Chicago have in common?

DC is the capital of the US. Every government decision is taken from the congress there, right? Correct me if I'm wrong. And we know that they were shooting a congress meeting there rumored to be the banishment of the Autobots (or maybe the opposite thing). So I believe DC stands just for the US government.

you might be right but the meeting im aware of is in NY at the UN and thats were the banisment meeting takes place(I think).

I wounder if the Great Chicago fire in 1871(i believe) has anything to do with why the last battle takes place in Chicago. One rumor of how the fire was started was that Meteors from a passing comet fell on Chicago and started four single fires that caused the overall blaze. What if those meteors were early Transformers and are still buried under Chicago? lol Im just thinking of random things that could work.

Maann... i loveee history! so many awesome secrets and history and cultural information about America and Europe its so awesome!

But one thing i find a little bit sad... the fact that the Dutch did so much in America and especially in NY when the US was young and the Dutch dont get any credit for it =/ =( you only hear the Irish this, the Irish that! Maybe some other European countries feel the same way i dont know? =/ but i feel proud that people from my country helped build it up as well

Just something funny for a laugh but what if when the French gave the U.S The Statue of Liberty, we (the U.S) built it around a TF LMAO!! Now that would be a sight to see... out of nowhere Lady Liberty comes to life, her eyes open and she climbs down to destroy anything in her way. As the military blast her, her outer shell falls away to show the hidden TF under lol
