Yep. That's because this is a Theatrical Trailer. Superbowl trailer is the one which is 30 seconds long. ROTF Theatrical Trailer was 2:28. That's pretty close to the length of this DOTM trailer which is 2:24.

Is it too early? Principle photography has been completed now for almost a month. The CGI teams have been working on this project since the start of filming. I can see them having a trailer ready easily. This is prime time for Paramount to get the DOTM word out. According to them the Cowboy & Aliens movie released the trailer on Nov 15th and Apple had it up on there trailer site the following day. The website seems legit. Funny its government website.

There is something wrong with this info. There is no way to show so much footage (2:24 min.) with principal photography finished just a few weeks ago and international filming still to come. By the way ROTF on Superbowl was not a teaser but a TV Spot. Commonly teasers have a length of 1:15 min. If we get a teaser this year I believe it will be like the teaser for TF1 - not much connection with the actual movie, just to put TF3 on the map and to tease our asses.

And if the common theory is right as SDL said that the trailer will be screening with Paramount's Tron Legacy 3D, then that's the movie to wait for. Not only because of the possible TF3 teaser/trailer but also because of the other movies also scheduled to get first trailers before the movie. And these are:

Captain America: The First Avenger (rumored)

So I guess Tron Legacy has just became the most anticipated movie premiere for 2010.

And because The Avengers is Disney's there is a big possibility to see trailers for Captain America and Thor which are also playing roles in the Avengers and are Paramount's property. And Pirates 4 is clearly Disney. So who knows....

I saw trailers for Dreamworks, Universal, Paramount (Cowboys and Aliens to be specific) during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, a Warner Bros. film.

Yeah That's what I saw!
It's very interesting, to me how they intermingle like that. But personally, I think they should try and put atleast a teaser for TF3 with Tron Legacy cause the exposure would be immense right off the bat (That is, assuming that Tron Legacy does well)

But if the info from Alberta is right, why put a movie in the trailer list 3 months before the actual trailer debut. And most of the movies there already have trailers or are expecting ones realy soon.

that I really cant say... maybe someone leaked it and or Bay and company are just that far ahead to where they really do have a full trailer ready to go. We will have to wait and see. Oh and I stand corrected. The first trailer released was 2:31 long and the second was 2:19, so I really dont see anything wrong with the run time for the DOTM trailer.

Yep, we have to wait and see.
There is nothing wrong with the trailer being 2:34 min. The problem is that ROTF's first trailer with that length that you refer to premiered on April 29th (not counting the 30'' Superbowl Spot). This is 5 months gap. And ROTF and DOTM have similar filming dates and oficial movie releases. I hope there will be some clarification these days.

Transformers:

The Transformers Announcement Teaser "Mars Rover" was supposed be released on July 4th, 2006 but a glitch made it available on June 29th. Time was: 1:45

The "Teaser Trailer" was released on Yahoo Movies on December 20th, 2006 (Michael Bay announced a December 22nd date for the official site). This launched the "Viral marketing for Sector 7. Time: 2:08

Pre-shoot began on April 19th, 2006 with full shooting on April 22nd. The film wrapped on October 4th, 2006. I know that ILM had started CG back in 2005 so it was prepped for the Announcement and Teaser to be released early.

I couldn't find any info regarding the Super Bowl 2007 teaser. If I remember they wanted to keep costs down rather than spending cash for the spot.

The final Theatrical Trailer was released on May17th, 2007. Time: 2:31

Here's the short list:

Film Production: April 22nd to October 4th, 2006
June 29th, 2006: Transformers Announcement Teaser (1:45)
December 20th/22nd, 2006: Teaser Trailer (2:08)
May 17th, 2007: Final Theatrical Trailer (2:31)

The reason I posted these details is that ILM had prep time as far back as 2005 to start CG and have built up an impressive list of scenes/models/drawings and such over the 2 films that they can easy create some CG and meld it into a teaser trailer with what Michael shot. Filming is still on going and it did start in early May.

They only need 2 or 3 seconds worth of shots and add it in to that 2:24. The movie is 7 months away there has to be some CG shots that are near complete or completed. Michael might want to ditch the Super Bowl 30 second ad to save cash again like in 2007.

My bet is the Teaser will release in December with Full Theatrical in May for the start of the summer movies.

So with Michael Bay's statement about the 3D we now have an indirect confirmation that the trailer will debut with Narnia on December 10th. So sooner that anyone expected.
