Well I think for me, what sets Bay apart from other movie directors, it's not just his movies I admire him for, it's his personality. He's energetic, not afraid to get his hands dirty, does not take any crap from other people, does not kiss ass, and does not compromise. He is large and in charge, as a director should be. The best part about him though is that if you're hired to be part of his film, you'll walk in as a boy and walk out as a man. The guy will do everything he can to see you do the best you can do.
I loved watching the behind the scenes in the ROTF DVD, and one of the animators mentioned how he would always ask him, "Is that the best you can do?" But it doesn't mean, "I don't like this, do it again." It means, "I LOVE this! BUT, can you do better? I wanna see more!!!"![]()
"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they're genuine." - Abraham Lincoln
I think he has a good attitude, he wants to make movies entertaining and fun, which is what they should be.
There must be tons of pressure when making a movie by the powers that be- producers, studios, as well as the stress of critics and there's always loud people with opinions. But somehow, he maintains that movies are made for the audience, which is what they're for.
How many directors have forums where they can interact with fans for better or worse? But he has something in his head, and he doesn't seem to bend to a vocal minority, which is good because it's happening more and more.
"to punish and enslave"
Because he's awesome. Period.
That's the only reason anyone needs.
I like his style more than any other director's. It pulls into the movie like no other movie does. Like in Transformers, we get the human's POV among this robot war, in Pearl Harbor (which is freaking amazing by the way) we see a realistic situation suddenly thrown into the middle of WW II, etc... It makes you feel like you actually could have been there. Not to many movies pull that off successfully.
Plus you get cars flipping over and/or being catapulted through the air, giant effing robots, a meteor shower, car chases, and explosions.![]()
I hate haters...
Because "Dark of the Moon was f*cking robbed."
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
He makes great entertaining movies unlike what critics have to say.
For me its his visual style above everything. Every scene from the biggest to smallest detail is captured so well. His use of lighting and the way he moves the camera is unlike any other director. I could watch his films with the sound off and be dazzled by the images on screen, and I'm not even talking the big action sequences....but those are also unmatched.
He is a great visual artist and he is very misunderstood by a lot of people.
He makes movies that are fun to watch.....

I think he's up with James Cameron, Hayao Miyazaki, Steven Spielberg or whatever great director there is.
Well, everyone's pretty much named it.
I admire his energy and his attitude...ESPECIALLY his attitude.
I love his sense of vision. For some reason, before i even knew about Michael Bay, I saw scenes and visions in my head that are best represented through HIS work. So it kind of rattles me realizing how close my vision is to his. He's just beyond what words could describe. haha i LOVE his films. He's the man.
What else is there to say? haha
