Two Manhattans, which used to be nothing but I'm clearly getting old. Plus, I didn't eat too well yesterday. I've been working really hard to finish my thesis and I was sitting in the bar revising somebody's else work as he is also due to graduate.

I blacked out halfway through the second Manhattan (that's bourbon, btw) and came to in a locked concrete room with a toilet in it four hours later. I remember absolutely nothing of what happened. From the evidence, which I will not be going into here, something ugly happened while was wasted but I don't want to know what. I'm alive and (mostly) unharmed, which is all that matters.

I'm just old, Bee. This is what happens when you fancy yourself the Marion Ravenwood-type who could can merrily drink anybody under the table. I'm not that kid anymore, unfortunately. I've gotten healthy in so many ways but this was such a part of my personality that it was hard to let go. But this is it, honestly. I paced around that room for hours by myself, waiting for someone to come and let me out. That's *never* going to happen again, believe me. I've resolved to give up hard liquor (except sake) in the future.

Thanks for the good vibes, Bee (See world? Bay fans are smart, civilized people!) But no rum! Rum bad! Rum ALWAYS causes blackouts! Largely because I'm sitting on a boat or a white sandy beach in some tropical location somewhere and everything is perfectly delicious... and then you try to stand up!
