Honestly I think it's true. I mean the script was the weakest part of the movie. The writers couldn't picture it (they already admitted that). If it wasn't for ILM and Bay's fun approach to the movie I don't think it would be as popular or good as it was. Don't get me wrong I LOVE this movie just saying Director and ILM saved this movie. Do you agree?

I mean the script was the weakest part of the movie.

For me personally I never cared much about Transformers comics, cartoons or history. But this film introduced me into the background of Transformers in a fun way. Yes the CGI and directing was well done, but the script was appealing to the average joe, in which it wasn't overcomplicated, (similar to the new Star Trek movie) and I think that was part of it's success. Nobody but old-time fans would enjoy a complicated script in which only they can understand.

I agree.

The way it was introduced may allow them to do many different things that they couldn't have done previously. Hopefully some of the new stuff (constructicons, devistator, .... (cant do spoilers)) will appeal to the hardcore fans.

i agree, but thats what made this move fun. The action scenes were just stunning! the robot characters looked really believable and realistic.
Theres nothing more i can ask for a transformers movie. BUT yes, A better script could've been easily incorporated in this film.

I don't think "saved" is a good word for it. It's not like the movie was in the brink of failing.

I thought it was a brillaint movie, i am a fan of the classic cartoon show and even the original movie as i was blown away by this movie.

The movie could've been another dragonball if it hadn't been for the effects and direction I think. Imagine if it was just those boxy characters fighting for 2 hours. But the script was a good establishment script.

The script to Dragonball Evolution was terrible as well as the actors, sets and CGI. I didn't learn a single thing about what Dragonball is all about nor any character development. Transformers without its realistic effects and directing would still have a hard job coming as low as Dragonball Evolution.

It was as good as Popeye or Speed Racer when it comes to live-action cartoon based movies even Ninja Turtles was awesome, it's still better than Masters of the Universe.
