I got a chance to meet you briefly in Detroit last week as you were walking the perimeter of one of the sets. I wanted to thank you again for taking a minute to humor me and take a picture with me. I'm an aspiring filmmaker, and you are literally living my dream. It was awesome to get a chance to stand there with you and your crew for a couple minutes and listen to you talk about shot ideas and set dressing. I've done some editing, basic shooting, and DVD authoring, but nothing remotely close to the scale of the realm you work in.
Five or six years ago, when you were here filming scenes for The Island, I got a chance to cruise around and check out the sets in downtown Detroit with some of the props and facades, and it was a pretty magical experience for me, being my first time seeing a movie set first-hand. Add to that the fact that I've been a Transformers fan since 1984 (and my son has been a fan since birth, essentially), getting a chance to get a brief glimpse of one of the Transformers movie sets and getting to shake your hand was an incredibly cool experience for me. Not to mention for my son, who was ecstatic to get a glimpse of Optimus Prime in the flesh (well, sheet-metal I suppose). You've provided a lasting memory for a young Transformers fan, and an older fan of Transformers and the movie making process as well.
I'm really hoping to grab a slot as an extra before filming wraps in Detroit; it would really be a dream come true. Either way, you've made a great impression on a fan of your work. Thanks again!
Jay
