    Default Children of the 80's.

Anyone a child of the 80's? i am, born in 1981 and remembered the best time for growing up.

I made a group called "Children of the 80's" where anyone can discuss their memories of things, movies they grew up with, the TV shows they grew up with and events of that time.

The good old days. How I miss them.

I look back at that time in my life fondly. As far as I'm concerned the Best Cartoons, The best TV shows and The Best Music video of all time (Thriller by Michael Jackson) where made back then. Oh, some of it may seem a little corny to some of you young sprites out there, But there was a lot of creativity there. Even in the commercials.

Check this one out. This one is just about legos. This was before you needed an instruction manual to play with them.

You Don't see stuff like that on TV anymore.

My favorite TV show was Knight Rider, The Real Ghostbusters was my favorite cartoon and "A Nightmare On Elmstreet" scared the shit out me.

And wow, how have things changed since then.

Saturday Morning Cartoons are no more, The Cracker Jack Box is now the Cracker Jack Bag, The World Wresteing Federation became World Wrestling Entertainment, almost all my favorite movies are being remade, and you wont find a free toy inside any cerial boxes in your grocery store.

I was a teenager of the 80s ( born in 69) .. but I have such fond memories.. of big hair.. rolled jeans .. gummy bands.. swatch watches.. leg warmers... Great movies like Lost Boys... Breakfast Club.. 16 Candles. Crappy cars... which cracks me up that those crappy cars are now classics and I would love to have some of them back ( especially my 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z).. and I find it funny that now..as a car collector.. I search out the 80s stuff ( I am restoring an 83 Subaru.. and just bought a 78 Datsun 280Z).
The Cartoons were the best back then.. even as a teen they were fun to watch. And out of my current ..quite large .. Transformer collection.. my favorites are the original G1s
I catch myself listening often to the 80s station on my sat radio... reminding me of records.. actual records.. I had a huge collection of Imported picture disks.

    The 80s were the best

    Come join group, kthxbai :-p

Another '81'r here. One of my earliest memories is of riding down a highway with my aunt in her old green Gremlin (yep, that sucker was green, lol), listening to Tina Turner singing about what's love got to do with it. And I am thankful that's one of my earliest memories, as looking at a skyscraper while uttering, "holy shitsky" just doesn't have the same pull :-p

A lot of the movies I like are from the 80's (like the Great Outdoors, Ghostbusters 1, Spies Like Us, Caddyshack, Trading Places, Manhunter, To Live And Die In LA, etc). New movies just don't appeal to me as much as the older ones do ;-)

The Early stuff was okay, but it went downhill as the decade came to an end.

Ya know. . .I'm not going to make another thread for it, but those of us who started watching cartoons in the early 60's had some fun stuff: Beanie and Cecil, Rocky and Bulwinkle, Bugs Bunny, etc. . . and I was also raised on Disney, Chuck Jones, Stan Freberg, and other shorts of the 30s and 40s because my mom was an animation lover. She taught me all about them. . .

And No, Harry, I don't think The Matrix is the Bugs Bunny of its time!
