What The F@#k!
No you can't make them alien! they're Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... Mutant being the operative word!
I googled the hottest red head's in TV/Movies and this is the result:
Julianne Moore (too old)

Emma Stone (possible!)

Isla Fisher (very possible!)

Laura Prepon (maybe?)

The only way to predict the future is to invent it.
Who knows, maybe the turtles will have like Capoeira and have an appetite for sushi and Taco Bell.

PS emma stone is having my babies she just doesnt know it yet lol:borat
Sorry dude, but that's not the case here. TMNT is always and forever will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and not Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles to the fans. One of the reasons why Mr. Bay's Transformers got the attention from fans is that he kept the Original Concept of "Race of Alien Robots from a doomed planet waging war on earth while disguised as vehicles, hiding in plain sight". Just think for a moment what would have happened if they changed the concept to "Man-made robots going out of control and waging war with each other"? But the absolute perfect examples are the first G. I. Joe movie and Dragon Balls. You saw what happened to them right?
I trust Bay. I know he listens. I know this because he delivered DOTM magnificently. I have a lot of faith in him. I just hope he stays faithful to the Original Concept of "Mutant" Turtles.
Turtle Power!!!
I just don't know how you can change the TMNT into aliens without altering their characters from the ground up, which is exactly what made them so appealing in the first place. If they can make it work, great, I'm all for it. But the big question is: Where would Master Splinter and Shredder fit into all this if the turtles were from outer space? I suppose they could choose Krang as the villain this time and somehow tie him into the turtles's origin, although that still doesn't leave much of an explanation for Splinter. I hope they don't cut HIM out.
Maybe Michael just misspoke. Who knows.
Maybe the Turtles (and Splinter) get hit with some scientific alien ooze, causing the transformation.
Optimus: "Amazing! A booby trap that actually catches boobies!"
That is the core story you know.

I think everybody is jumping to a very quick conclusions. I think there is a misunderstanding. Can someone show me a quote where Michael says that the turtles will be aliens. This is ridiculous. All I've seen was that statement:
There are tens of ways to explain a mutation happening on an alien world or just an alien mutation brought to Earth in some way.Another tidbit he offered up is that the Turtles origin story has been updated, from the decidedly 80s radioactive waste accident to an alien planet.
And don't forget that we're talking about turtles here. If somebody forgot they are creatures inhabiting Earth. Not aliens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtles
I'm sure there will be a clarification in the next few days.
^ Edit
Now I see the quote in which Michael says that the turtles are from an alien race. If it was not a misunderstanding and considering the huge riot on the web I'm pretty sure that they will drop this idea.
This article might clarify things a little:

I would prefer the Turtles to be of an Earth origin. I highly doubt them being aliens will have the same inner city impact as them being mutants did. Please keep this on Earth.
P.S. I don't care what anyone says. the last film was amazing.
"...my heart is turned to stone; I strike it, and it hurts my hand..."
Bay, I love ya. I really do. I really think you did the Transformers franchise right, regardless of what some fans say. The changes you made, particularly the designs, made sense. However, I'm not really sure what to think about this one. It's very early I know, and you probably think I'm just another random fan complaining about something, but it just seems wierd to change such an important part of the story. Are you going to remove the word "Mutant" from the name? Since they're aliens, is there going to be a whole race of turtles?
I'm more than willing to give the movie a chance, because I'm a Turtles fan, and I've been waiting for another live action flick to return to the darker roots of the first movie. Regardless of where they come from, I'm sure you guys will get the characters right, which is most important.
He's online right now creating a thread as of this post...
Michael has reacted just now to the alien thingyawesome! XD :P

I seriously can't believe people flip over this.
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
