Michael, it doesn't seem that you're aware of this, but a lot of people really hated The Twins. And you promising us here that they would not be returning has gotten a lot of people's hopes up. Unfortunately, it seems that the Twins most certainly are returning, as those photos show them on set with new paintjobs.
This is like if George Lucas promised Star Wars fans that Jar Jar Binks would not be back after Episode 1, only to have him return after all; not a very good marketing strategy on your part, I'm afraid.
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
I really hope that's not true. One of the things that makes TF's interesting is their ability to rescan and transform into any size-appropriate vehicle. If the Chevy Trax is not a viable option any more then there HAS to be another suitable vehicle out there to take its place. Here's an opportunity to find a really cool alternative.
If what you're suggesting turns out to be true, then that just smacks of laziness and/or corporate pandering. The idea angers me frankly. Every second those twins are on the screen could be put to better use developing another existing character or better still introducing a new, more interesting one.
If anything the twins should be diverging at this point, not becoming more similar. What's the point in that?
Maybe he IS aware and is just messing with us. Regardless, I agree with you.
I think he is enjoying our paranoia over whether he is messing with us or not.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Taybrian1 I'm a Youtube star! (Not really, I just get bored.)
I know people have brought it up, but if they are not going to be in TF3, then why have anything similar at all in TF3 to remind the audiences of them. BTW, I had no problems with them in TF2, it is only people who can't get over this PC society we live in...
The only one I thought was annoying was Wheelie, in both movies, the animated and TF2 he was just annoying...
Bring back Barricade! Oh and don't reuse the TF meshes like you did with the constructicons where when some were formed to make Devastator on the pyramid, they were also in the brawl/battle with the humans.
Good luck with your conclusion of this genre, I enjoyed the films for what they were.
I don't think the Twins where a real problem. Apart from their dissapearing in the last battle scene.
I thought the twins were hysterical.
I looked up the dialogue involving the twins on IMDB, and aside from the "we don't read much" moment (which I had already seen in the trailer), I thought every one was hilarious.
A few:
-"It's supposed to hurt, it's an ass-kickin."
-"That's cause you a pussy."
-"I messed that up... I'm okay."
-"Are you scared?" "I'm scared only of your ugly face!" "I'm your twin, you stupid genius!"
And my personal favorites:
-"I don't want to die! Kung fu grip, boy, kung fu grip...!"
and
-"This is what you call blending in with the landscape, like a ninja." "Shut up or I'll blend my fist in your face!"
Now, were all of these moments kid friendly? No, and a few people I know with younger kids thought it was a little over the top. But I'm not a kid (although sometimes I act like one); I'm 31. But I remember having many, many, many, many conversations as a kid with my younger brother about how I was a ninja, he said that I wasn't, and I said I was, and he said I wasn't, and then we ended up wrestling in the house arguing about this silly topic. (And then my mother would damn near pick us up and throw us outside a la Bumblebee.)
That's what those characters remind me of, and I'm going to miss that. Maybe if today's "youth" would put down the game controllers, stop arguing with the Halo competitor 1,000 miles away who they can't "personally interact with", and start competing/joking/arguing with their own siblings (or neighborhood kids) a little more, these characters would mean something to them. As for the people who are older than me, I say this: Remember what it was like to be a kid, and lighten up. They're robots.
But alas, maybe I'm following into the trap of "When I was a kid...", and perhaps that's not fair.
But anyway, as I said, I thought they were hysterical.

It really astonishes me that no one looks at the twins and sees an adolescent robot version of Lowrey and Burnett because, y'know, that's what they are.

When I look at the twins I see missed opportunity, wasted money and stolen screen-time.
Think of all that processing power and rendering time that could've gone towards character development and back-story for Ratchet, Ironhide and even Jolt.
And if it's the comedy you're worried about, Ratchet and Ironhide both proved that they are more than capable of delivering much needed light-hearted humour in TF1. And Wheelie covered the slapstick stuff in ROTF. Add to that the ridiculously over-the-top exploits of John Turturro...not to mention Sams' parents.
It's a good call to make, keeps the TF franchise fresh. And there are so many robots to show probably, good thing to do.
BTW can someone alert me when the cast is gonna start filming in Moscow?
I live in Belgium and i wanna see the filming crew in action, and if its an option i wanna be a Extra or what ever you call a person that is on the background of a scene, that would totally make my year :-)
anyone know a casting agency or something for this?
Im 1m90cm, brown curly hair, muscles with a layer of fat over it, blue eyes, and i have patience when needed, ill be well rested if im hired for it :-) and the avatar is me, ill be happy enough when you give me one chance :-)
Youll never know if they read this :-P is worth a try :-)
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that IT'S THE SAME FREAKIN' GUY. ..If you showed a clueless non-TF fan pictures of Megatron from both movies, even they'd tell you that it's the same Megatron with only a few changes. Why the hell would Bay even THINK of changing his name to Galvatron if it was the same character returning??? If that were the case, like half the script would've had to be changed. There would've been more to it than just changing his name genius...
I say we'll find out when the movie comes out. That's all we can really do.

If the twins aren't back then what is photo from? it's from the set where they are currently shooting so someone explain this one. Oh and just like Megatron wasn't going to be in ROTF. Yeah, nice try.

I don't think that the Twin's show corporate pandering by sharing their mode - They may still have the left right asymetery and different heads in robot mode. and I would guess that the color of Orange and green will be brought more into each ones respective interlimb color in the robot modes.
I'd guess there's a chance that a 'sport' edition of those cars could be made by GM as they did with Bumblebee and they can give people the choice of accent color then. but I have not idea if that was always the plan from the beginning to make them something GM can sell at Retail as a Transformers special edition.
The colors do resemble cars that already exist something like a Honda Civic Type R for example.

I hope that just because Sideswipe, Ratchet, Ironhide and maybe Jolt all resemble cars you can't buy that that automatically gives them a lower role in the movie.
If I had any request of Mr. Bay it's to not make Robot characters just disappear with minimal reason in the movies such as when Sam is abandoned several times in ROTF. or like when they are under utilised as they are only linked to a specific story point as with Sideswipe and Ratchet.
I can see Ironhide and Ratchet for example being good military liason officers.... I felt it was something that I'd have prefered to have seen to have the human military baby sat by an Autobot... partly because they can sense Transformers comming a little, and partly to make sure that the US Military isn't trying to stab them in the back in their coalition.
In government terms coalitions usually remain more stable if the smaller partner is involved in all areas so they can't be said to not be involved in decision making.
If the Autobots were not involved in strategic planning then they can't be held co-responsible for when plan got wrong either.
I don't want the Autobots just sitting around and then going someplace and shooting stuff because some human general tells them too - they may as well be the humans pet enforcers then.
I'm still shocked by the way Optimus acts in ROTF - the violence and complete lack of concern for collateral damage, and the genocidol wish for the obliteration of the Decepticons seems rather out of character to me after his pleeding to Megatron in the 1st movie and gained him the less that complementary nick name of Murdermus Prime.
If the Autobots 'are' seen as a danger by the public in Transformers 3 - then there will be some legitimacy to that - as evidenced by the people of LA/Mission City, the Interstate Highway, Egypt, Shanghai and so on.
So I hope that those points can be addressed - no abandonment of Sam or Mikaela without reason, and no more lack of concern for the death of their comrades or the needless endangerment of civilians.
The 1st Movie Sam was left to struggle with Frenzy as Bumblebee was Fighting Barricade - so there was a logic there.
The Soldier types were left to struggle with Scorponok similarly with good reason.
Sam running away with the allspark was perhaps a little dubious but not overly noticiably so.
But the way the Autobots vanish into thin air to allow a human character to be in danger and mysteriously reappear in ROTF is not something I'd like to see a habit being made of.
Like when Mikaela and Sam are running from explosions, I have to wonder why couldn't Ironhide or Ratchet have driven them, why couldn't the bike-sisters have taken them.
It was a bit like an episode of The A-Team or Airwolf with explosions going off all over but people remaining unharmed.
I'd have prefered to have seen a Souc or small middle eastern town (Like you see in Indiana Jones movies) with the cars or bike darting around the streets avoiding attack... that probabably would have benifted from an Earth Mode Soundwave to chase them though.
I got to thinking that partly as I thought Sam and Mikaela running away on foot was a bit odd - and partly as I was remembering a Call of Duty Videogame with a similar scene where you are in a tank driving around the narrow streets.
Though as I keep going on about I really want a Car chase in these movies... 'badly'
Uuhmmmmm. . . .You can buy a Topkick and have it customized with the stacks and Tf mask. Trust me, I have checked. I lust for that truck! Sadly, my bank account says otherwise. <sniff> Of course if someone (*cough* Bay *cough) wanted to buy me one, I would never be so ungracious as to refuse!!! :-)
