They are a little similar in being grand directors who know how to deliver crowdpleasing excitement.

For one thing I think Bay comes across - how can I put this politely - as less of an egomaniac in interviews.
The biggest difference in my mind is that James Cameron is always pushing at the boundaries of technology, whereas Bay uses the technology but seems more cautious.
There's a lot of things that you can say about Michael Bay, but visually he is one of the most competent and compelling directors out there. His movies are literally a pleasure to look at (if not always to hear, but I think Blink whatever is probably an acquired taste).
Everyone always talks about the pyrotechnics and CGI, but I like his 'old school' action shots the best.
I think his attitude towards 3D illustrates the above point the best.
Both are kickass director's don't you think?
Mh, im not sure. I dont like the personality of the cameron, he´s kind of a jerk. Both make great films, while MB pushes the technology that exists to a new limit, Cameron invents new stuff. But as a director, i think MB is superior. While Cameron has done more good films than Micheal Bay, none of his films have such an unique style as Micheal Bays films. Micheal Bay is the absolute master of visuals and special effects (just look at the way how he intergrated the transformers in TF1 and 2 into the movie, no other director could have done it that well, and i dont mean in terms of special effects, but in terms of character).
Also, i think the production value of Micheal Bay´s films is alittle higher. MB is one of the few "oldschool" directors, i absolutely love how he uses CGI only when necessary and uses mostly no bluescreen. Thats how movies should be made, not in a stupid bluescreenstudio. While Cameron uses ridiculous much bluescreen and animates so many things in CGI, like explosions and so on.
MB wins. He´s one of the absolute best.
I grew up with Cameron since i saw Abyss in the theaters at 8 along with T2 at 10, True Lies at 13, and Titanic at 16. Bay i grew up with since i saw Bad Boys on the big screen at 14, The Rock at 15, Armageddon at 17 and so on.
They are personal fave directors! Both Transformers, The Island and Avatar blew me away. I can't wait for Cameron's Battle Angel Alita adaptation, Avatar 2 and more.
My sister is in the Biz and she says that Cameron's closest assistants call him mij when hes being an Ahole ... So they say " ok just to let you know MIJ is out on the set today so be careful" MIJ is JIM backwards and they annunciate it like Minj LOL So that about sums up how anal cameron can be..... Cameron makes good movies dont get me wrong!
"How Come the Decepticons have all the cool shit"
Mij?
Personally, I like them both.
The both are great directors, that make awesome movies and know how to please their fans and the rest of the audience. In my oppinion the both do a nice job, and most importantly, they enjoy doing it.
Don't expect everyone to always agree with you
I can compare them in Spanish Lol
Their biggest similarity is that they move their own sets.
Don't forget both made box-office hits! although The Island was a box-office flop.
I do not think Cameron and Bay are similar in any way.
There are both entertaining for sure but I see Cameron as Mr.SciFi/tekkie while Mr.Bay is the Man of the U.S.military/real patriot. I actually can see Mr.Bay directing Capt.America.
Correcto mundo! Did you know Bay is a Cameron fanatic?
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
Both Titanic and Pearl Harbor are similar but great right? I think PH is better in it's Director's Cut than the watered down PG-13 version.
Both The Abyss and Armageddon are excellent, both The Rock with T2 rock solid as both Transformers and Avatar are cool as hell.
Everyone who knows something about Cameron will know that he is a absolut movie fanatic. But thats not a bad thing.
Let's not forget they are blockbuster maestros.
