Thread: Best & Worst Scenes

Default Best & Worst Scenes (Visually)

Probably was discussed several times already, but

The best scene in the whole movie was
The whole arrival scene of the Autobots. Just as awesome as the president speech in Armageddon. Pure Bay moments. Especially the "truck comes through fog" with the great score and great Bay camera angles was breathtaking. Almost cried so beautiful it was. Goosebumps all over the place.

Two of the other best scenes were when the Autobots were driving to the city... on that highway. Fucking awesome and breathtaking angles and photography. And at the beginning the start of the attack of the humans on that Scorpion thing with that great score again.

The only thing I wished could have been better and that's with all Bay films. DO THOSE SCENES LONGER. I'm not talking about the fast editing. That's great. Just let me see those fast edited scenes longer, you know... I could watch a movie just with those three scenes mentioned on loop for 3 hours.
It's funny because I always say that after each Bay movie. Only Bay has those great looking scenes in a movie and they're still too short. Damn it!

Bay, make more and longer Bay scenes please!!!

To be honest I have to say I'm still no Transformers fan although as I said previously, it was the biggest and best action Hollywood blockbuster in movie history.
But as you can see the best scenes were the "normal" scenes with great looking cars and stuff. I still don't like robots that much. So the best Bay project for me would be Transformers without the robots just with great looking cars, camera angles, stars etc. ehehee. Well, ok you have to have that great looking robot end fight, so some robots can be in there

Now to the bad scenes, mainly visual-wise (anything else doesn't really matter in a Bay movie anyway). Although or exactly because Transformers had some of the best looking scenes in a Bay and any movie ever it also had the worst scenes in a Bay movie so far. It doesn't really matter when watching the movie, but still..

As discussed in some other thread, there is nothing worse than a picture which looks "digital". I don't know on what Transformers was filmed, if it was filmed on digital cameras entirely or what. At least it looked great like film for the most part.
But there were those "digital looking" shots which were just awful. I can't remember all of them, but the worst was of course the one where the blonde hot chick (with Australian accent) run at some point at night? (can't remember exactly). It looked so bad amateurish Mini-DV like, just like in Blair witch or Open water e.g.
And some of the other shots at night of course. Those looked so digital it sucked as hell. They just didn't fit AT ALL with your usual Bay visual quality.
Oh and the ship in ice scenes with Shia's father looked very fake too unfortunately..

So yeah. I hope there won't be any of those in the next movie (although probably will) and there will be more and longer awesome looking car scenes instead of robots.. but ok, that's just me I know

What are the best and worst (visual) scenes for you?

PS: I also didn't like the seamless transformations of the cars/robots because there should have been gaps between their different "parts" or something when they transform back to car form . And the reason I might be so nitpicking is that I just expect perfection visual-wise in a Bay movie. It's still the best looking movie ever (by best i mean most beautiful like a commercial imagery) of course.

worst: when Megatron hit the building to knock off Sam cause the use of explosives was too apparent. Also, when they left the damn cause could not figure out why starscream did not go after them.

    best: Prime vs Bonecrusher.

Best: the scene in the garden when the robots try to hide from Sam's parents, and the scene of the fight in the highway.
    Worst: I don't remember now.

The very best scene for me is the arrival of the Autobots...it was already perfect until Ironhide exit the pool at which points it passes perfect to become legendary. I had tears in my eyes all four times I saw the movie.

The transformation of Bonecrusher with the camera going under him and with that last "AAAAAAH" he screams when he finishes transforming was great too, with a great fight following it. I love the use of slow-mo in this sequence and you gotta love that old school beheading.

The propoer meeting between Sam (and Mikaela) and Bumblebee, with the communication through the radio..."Message from Starfleet", and he points to the sky, or "Yes, you're wonderful", clapping and pointing to Mikaela, and finally "Any more questions you wanna ask?" after transforming back.
And that crane shot ascending in the air looking down on Mikaela getting into the car with the great instrumental from "Before it's Too Late".
    Magic.

Among those I don't like, I would have to say the piss jokes (Mojo peeing on Ironhide's foot but more especially Bumblebee "lubricating" Turturro). Jazz's presentation, way too "token black guy" as in NOt Another Teen Movie.
And I kinda wish that signature Bay shot towards the end with Prime transforming would have been shown from a little further away so we could enjoy the transformation more. Otherwise it was great.

There are many scenes I like in the movie anyway, many comedy moments (the whole "hiding in the yard/Sam's happy time" scene or even Sam driving Mikaela "home tonight" at the beginning). Megatron announcing himself when he wakes up. Etc...

i'll start with the worst first (very few and for the sake of convo in this thread):

    - Was it just me, or were the cuts(editing) as Bonecrush was flipping cars a little on the sloppy side?

    - The Jurassic Park-esque cut from level ground to steep drop when Bonecrusher lunges at Prime. (level road cuts to steep over pass

The Best: (visually, pretty much everything, but in particular)

    - Aerial shots of the Griffith Observatory
    - any Car ad-styled shot of the vehicle modes (i.e., en route to and from Hoover dam)
    - Peterbilt drifting (en route to city and 360' Prime)
    - low-slung go kart & Bay buster shots (its all about that Bayhem)
    - BB's transforming burnout (if that isn't Transform and muthaf**kin' Roll Out, I don't know what is!!)

    Last but not least:
    - The entire freaking Arrival sequence (it's a broken record here, but for good reason)

Hmmmm, honestly speaking I'm really not sure what you are talking about. I'm not disagree with your post. I'm just not understanding what you mean by "digital looking shots, night shots, and seamless transformations.

But I agree with the above poster that there was lazy editting going on when Bonecrusher was taking out the cars on the freeway with his extended arm

    I can't think of a worse scene.

The Arrival of the Autobots was the best scene in the entire movie.

Actually I also thought that Jazz transforming on the bridge after BB got captured and his transformation was hidden by a pillar. I thought that was kinda cheap.

I think it's unfair and unrealistic to judge lighting of a movie based on compressed and mis-matched color profiles images on the net.

Best scene is the Autobots arrival. It's perfect. Is the type of Bay Scene i love (as the president speech in armageddon, the begining of the pearl harbor attack, and the launch of the B-25s in Pearl).

    Worst shot:

When they fall to the ground leven highway is fine, but before there was this shot and it's quite... strange, i don't know how to explain it. Looks ugly. The movement seems to be very false

    Default yup

My favorite scene was the car chase involving bumblebee being pusued by barricade!! When the cars broke through the smoke....and the music score started..YEEEEEEHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I felt like going outside and doing some doughnuts in the movie theatre parking lot!!!Unfortunately, I would have been arrested sometime shortly after and would have missed the movie.New Mexico jails do not serve steak and potatoes if ya now what I mean.....My least favorite would have been that same chase scene.I wish barricade could have attempted to make bumblebee pull over with a few LOVE taps. But not everyone can afford to wreck a saleen for movie purposes. It also would have been cool for other police squad units join in pursuit accidentally.

Are you talking about my small "example" images? I didn't judge based on them, I judged on the image I saw in theaters, I just used the picture to show the scenes I was talking about (way more than 5 scenes, but I couldn't upload more than 5). I think that should be obvious...

Anyway, although this isn't about anything visual, ya the "piss joke(s)" were awful.

By the way, doesn't vBulleting reflect changes to the title of the thread?? I changed it to "best&worst scenes (visually)" but it still doesn't list the "visually" stuff...

Well, i think didn't explained it well. I'm not talking about the shot itself, but about the moment. The slow motion moment when they crash, i think the movement seems to be fake. Not realistic or even stylish.

i think the movements were fine...i will say however that the editing of that sequence was fucked up....for me personally i lost complete comprehension of continuity during that bit
