"Titanic" in 3-D?
Thanks, but no thanks.
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
geee whats with all this 3-d crap movie, game, hardware companies launches recently?
It's all about the Benjamins. James Cameron is obviously not rich enough.
Oh, and by the way - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...562ae66c9a5e91

Not everybody gets headaches or thinks that 3D is crap.
However, there needs to be a clear distinction between stuff like this and stuff that pushes the new(er) tech.
That said, I'll pass on anything retroactively converted from 2D to 3D.
I like the Idea of releaseing it to mark the 100 aniversary of the Titanic Sinking, But I still can't stand that damned "My heart will go on" song. I remember it like it was yesterday, they would play it on the radio every Ten minutes.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them."

oh god...$2.5B isn't enough -.-
@r-type
i agree with you on this. companies seem to be pushing all this 3-d stuffs that is not even meant for 3-d in the first place. like that clash of the titan. 2-d to 3-d is not good. alice in wonderland is one example. barely any 3-d gimmick in it.
but then i still not like wearing glasses for 3-d to work. if they ever have glassless 3-d, i will fully worship that technology.
I'm a 3D fan....But this is not a good idea.
From a business standpoint it is definitely a good idea. So many people will go back to the theaters to watch Titanic, and since it's been so long many people (like me) haven't fully watched the movie in many years.
As for my opinion, it think it is a bad idea. The 3d aspects would not be fun at all. Its not a world you can get drawn into like avatar with its acid-trip glowing lights and colors everywhere, its a ship following rich people, poor people, doing normal stuff. Cameron needs to get an original thought and not copy all of his ideas rehashing them a million times.
Just because it's good business doesn't mean it's a good idea. If he wants to re-release it, fine....Re-release the regular version.. It would still make millions regardless..... But if there was one movie they doesn't need to be in 3D, it's Titanic. What would be the reason OTHER THAN to charge an extra 4 or 5 bucks a ticket?? It's not like Titanic would be any better in 3D.
Cameron has it all sorted. Hes a man with a mind where he can project the outcome of the success of his films.
I too personally agree that this 3D stuff is not really that great, but my opinion obviously doesnt speak for everyone elses. Im sure theres a gigantic audience out there who would love to see Titanic in Camerons 3D technology.
Good idea or bad idea, it really depends on the majority.
I think given the time they are going to give to the transfer, it might look good. This rushing movies to 3-D is bullshit, even Cameron and Bay are not fans of it.
I'd give it a shot just to see where the technology stands. it would be fun to watch, but nothing I'd spend personal amounts of money on to upgrade my home
theater. Personally, if the filmmakers are supervising it and depending on the film, I'll give it a shot. But I really do not want to see movies made into 3-D
without the Directors overseeing it. Just like when they added color to B&W films, it looked like crap. I'd hate to see Rear Window or Casablanca in 3-D. Also,
how do you 3-D film grain?

Titanic is now over 2 billion worldwide. Just as Cameron planned all along.. In the unlikely event another movie makes more money than Avatar, expect Cameron to re-release that one too, in 4D Smell-o-vision to pad the numbers.
