There's a huge difference between "discussing" something and agreeing to something. If online journalism was held to any sort of standards, the distinction would be pretty clear.

Bay has gone on record about his view of 3D as a "fad", and in this case, I'd have to agree with him. If AVATAR really makes the trend hot, I guess there's no stopping it, but all I ever got out of Cameron's movie was a splitting headache.

Besides, having to adjust the whole production into a 3D experience would take precious time and effort, and at this point Bay needs to focus all his resources on the quality of the film itself, not to mention making the release date.

Make no mistake: Paramount going to want this movie in 3D whether Bay agrees with it or not. Avatar's box office numbers have opened the flood gates.

If they want it in 3D they should change the whole planning. Move TF3 release date two or three years and let Bay make Pain and Gain before and also have his break. And then make TF3 in 3D with all the neccesary time to do everything right.

    Otherwise stay stick to 2D

They call me Ratchet Girl for a reason. Sometimes Skids girl.

Then they're idiots. Bay is not shooting on Cameron's machines and he's not super-imposing human faces on his robots (This is not G1, deal with it).

While I love 3D I am more interested in seeing more IMAX scenes. For a movie like Transformers it's just so much more epic on a 70mm IMAX screen then it being in 3D.

Thinking back, I think that perhaps the only "movie" I've seen in 3-D is Disney's Captain EO, which I think was in 3-D, although I honestly don't remember.

I see in 3-D all the time, cause, you know, I'm a human (mostly). I don't really see the big deal with 3-D movies. Maybe I need to see some of these recent movies to appreciate where the technology is at this point. I mean, the idea of a movie being able to make an obviously imaginary world (like Pandora in Avatar, I assume) seem to be real sounds pretty cool in theory.

But for most movies, which take place in the "real world", I don't see the excitement. I live in the real world; I know what it is like to experience that in 3-D, because I do it everyday. If I want 3-D entertainment, I'll go to baseball game. Or the park. Or a strip club (Hey-O!).

But maybe 3-D is (or will soon become) all that and a bag of chips. I don't know, but it just doesn't excite me.

    Hee hee.

But really, Bay is good at shining up reality. I'm a big fan of reality.

It would be neat to see Optimus reach out and touch people in a ride or something. But I think a movie would give me a headache.

I was born with a eye handicap therefore i can't make any depth perception with one eye.
Don't make it in 3-D i don’t want to watch a pirate transformer 3 (would be my first in 8 years) also i can't wait for 6 months to see it on Bluray (I can only hope it comes with a 2-d version)

Damn, i fucking hate Avatar now !!!

I agree, but they're not thinkin about that. They're thinkin about the money....Just look at Clash of the Titans...They're scrambling to convert it to 3D before release and it wasn't even meant to BE in 3D...

I've heard the other way round. In 2D it was just a Cgi movie with a bland story, but in 3D it was an "experience".

Of course I haven't seen it, so... my view is therefor invalid.

Anyways, no 3D for me. Rather just have TF3 in plain old 2D.

I think they should keep it 2D but i guess it doesn't matter as long as the story is good and we get a little more focus on the relationship with the transformers, I don't have a problem with 3D but I think a lot of movies are throwing it in there now because they realize their movies are not that good or the script may be weak and they need to mask it with 3D.

IMAX just seems more attuned to Michael's style than 3D, in my opinion.

not a lot of people can see 3D properly. it also takes a lot of focus away from the story and instead on the image - the person starts to analyze the image on screen and asses each second of the movie. because if they transfer it to 3D after the initial release may not be a bad idea, but regardless i sure hope the dont rush the jebus out of this like ROTF....they cant afford that anymore.

    Avatar has a 2D version.
In fact, all you'd have to do is watch an 3D DVD on a TV that wasn't 3D capable and you'd have 2D, I'd think.

3D is "special" -Avatar may have done well, but so did 2D ROTF. I can't see Paramount forcing anyone to make a 3D movie, and if it did, there'd still be a 2D version, as there was for Avatar. Avatar gave me a headache in spots too. I'd give TF in 3D a shot, but I doubt I'd enjoy it as much as 2D, and would never buy a 3D TV or DVD.

This is worry about nothing, in my opinion, 3D isn't going to pop out in a year and make everyone replace their TVs. No one wants to wear odd glasses every time they watch a movie.

I agree that 3d probably works best in a fictional environment. Seeing 3d pavement, trees, or buildings is just meh...
Seeing an acid trip of pretty lights and colors everywhere, achem*avatar*, is a little better for that added dimension.

turns out Bay is now being forced to do 3D. I think the only cool 3D thing in a TF movie would be the Transformations, that is all.
