My Neighbors The Yamatas: Excellent animated comedy from Studio Ghibli, check it out.

Coraline: 2009 was a great year for animation and this Stop Motion offering is quite refreshing of CGI and managed to be a big hit for 2 weeks at the box-office at number 1, very original creative and unique but creepy for kids.

Toxic Avenger rules! i loved that movie since i was 12 back in 93 when i saw it on USA then i rented it uncut and uncensored when i was 15, i was shocked and horrified by some of the graphic violent nature including a kid getting his head crushed by a car, fat guy's guts being torn out and that sort of thing but i loved it for it was a nice funny Sci-fi horror comedy that hits the spot as an exploitation classic.

Gulliver's Travels. Incredibly stupid, but somewhat funny, so it wasn't too annoying. The visuals were interesting. The costumes too. As a historical costumer, I kind of liked that they used historical models and then diverted from there

    Magical movie. Extremely well-made.

Unstoppable - has finally hit big screens here (two months behind). Entertaining, and suspenseful like Duel (1971 film by Spielberg).

Skyline - wasn't brilliant. Shame the rest of the film wasn't as fun as the ending. I liked the idea he became one of them. Sequel if done right would be brilliant with him going psycho.

Black Swan - watching tonight )))

    "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"

    Revenge of the Fallen.jpg

The airline screwed me...yet again ( ). So, instead of being mad at them, I enjoyed the hell out of "Revenge of the Fallen".

It's like I was watching the movie for the first time. And I must say, the ending sequence in Egypt is just too good. Can Michael top it with "Dark of the Moon"?

    I certainly hope so.

I actually thought that ending ruined what was an okay movie.

I thought the movie itself was horrible. The only good actor was the main guy. It looked like a rip off of Cloverfield crossed with WOTW. Now do a sequel with more money available, and have more aliens, with more alien action like the end did, and it'll probably be half decent. But it just didn't do it for me. I was so psyched after the trailer too

It's a rip-off of Battle Los Angeles, which hasn't even been released yet.

Mulan: Great underrated disney classic that i always loved since i was 17 when i saw it in theaters and one of my fave disney movies, Mulan is cute for a Disney Asian chick and i adore Asian girls.

The Hobbit: Animated prequel to LOTR that i always loved since i was a little boy.

GGGAAAAHHHH!!!!! PLEASE don't call The Hobbit a Prequel! It was the ORIGINAL Book! Published BEFORE LOTR, even if he developed (or recorded the history of as some of us believe) Middle Earth long before even the Hobbit was published!

Well LOTR are the sequels to The Hobbit in Tolkein's books since i've been a fan of Tolkein since i was 12 years old and enjoyed the original animated movies but now the live-action versions blow them away and i'm sure the new Hobbit movie will be great.

What you must understand is that Tolkien was writing in a continuum. The concept of Prequels and Sequals is more of a modern movie construct, and has grown to be used in literature, whether suiatble or not to the genre. He wasn't thinking in terms of "sequels." He was thinking in terms of a continuum of a tale laid in a world he had been building for many many years. I recommend reading The Silmarrillion for more background on his work as a start.

And, Harry, your constantly telling us when you first saw or read something, trying to sound like some hoary-headed old sage, is very getting laughably tiresome to those of us who actually HAVE been around for at least a half century! Since you were 12? When was that, like 8 years ago? And from the movies? Have you read the books? I have been reading and STUDYING Tolkien's work for almost 40 years. And by studying, I am not referring to just reading the books slowly, but actually scholarly study once I was in college. . . which, oh by the way, was before you were even born!

Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky In mandarin with subtitles: Awesome movie based on a Japanese comic book, this live-action Hong Kong/Japanese Sci-fi action martial arts comedy is loaded with gore, laughs and action galore as it's like Ichi The Killer meets The Shawshank Redemption and predates Kick-Ass, recommended if you want a good laugh.
