True Grit (2009): Awesome remake of a John Wayne masterpiece, surprisingly respects the original.

If you like "The Naked Gun", this one's for you. Great soundtrack too.
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
The Loser
Knight and Day - oops
Book of Eli - so much better the second time around
The A Team - great fun
Prince of Persia - less fun
Cop Out - out of fun
Regarding watching TRON on both formats (3D and IMAX), and putting aside each format's benefits, which one did you consider being the best experience?
I just have to agree with that - my favorite DIE HARD.
IMAX, hands down. The aspect ratio would open up in certain scenes. (notably when Recognizers were present, or out on the Grid). Not to mention the way better sound. If it's a choice between stereoscopic 3D or more screen real estate, I tend to side with the latter.Originally Posted by haut_bas_clair

re: but IMAX is only in 3D - seeing as the 3D helped to enhance the movie in IMAX, (I don't have eye/motion sickness problems with watching 3D), I'd still recommend going all the way and doing 3D IMAX.
The three Pixar movies I did not have in my collection UNTIL NOW!!!
A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo.
"Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down do you wanna know what you've gotta do?"
"No I don't wanna know."
"Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim..."

Despicable Me on Blu-Ray: Fantastic CGI animated comedy with good originality to it and nice storytelling plus some good emotion.
Burlesque - this movie makes me want to buy myself a pair of Louboutins.![]()
Ponyo in it's subtitled version: As enjoyable as the English dub version with Liam Neeson, this is an excellent Japanese animated movie for everyone and has a good story to it.
True Grit.
Jeff Bridges is a badass, period.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox on Blu-Ray: The best animated movie of 2009! nice to see something refreshing from CGI but being more to Nightmare Before Christmas style stop motion animation and has good storytelling, a great cast and awesome animation.
Alien and Aliens on Blu-Ray: Both looked and sounded fantastic even with the remastering like if they were new.
This last week I have watched;
Jonah Hex - Fun but wanted more.
Bad Lieutenant - Awesome film
The Last Exorcism - Enjoyed this, wanted more demon stuff though
Buried - Stressful!
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 - Not as bad as people have made out. Probably wouldn't watch again however :P
Transformers 1986 - Do I need to say anything? lol
Scott Pilgrim vs The World - bout the 10th time I have watched this. I'm in love with it :P
The Flight of Dragons on DVD: I ordered it off Warner online achieves! great movie that i loved since i was a kid and inspired How to Train Your Dragon.
The Expendables. Highly entertaining - I liked it.
Commando. One of Arnold's best.
"Convoy" / 1978 /
Man, oh man, I know it's a cliche but I'll say it - they sure don't make them like that anymore. Pure blast from the past, love that movie.

Toy Story 3.
I cried.
Hey Dak, if you thought Toy Story 3 was a sad animation movie. That's nothing compared to Grave of the Fireflies which is even sadder! it's a very powerful, realistic and moving animated drama about the horrors of WWII after the bombing in hiroshima and will have you in tears and from Ghibli productions.
Kill Bill 1 & 2 on Blu-Ray: Great movies and they look sharp in high def.
The Way Back: If the goal of the movie is to be disappointing, then it's a great achievement. Not this time, Mr Weir.
True Grit and Narnia 3
"My story is of many thousands, and the world will not suffer if it ends too soon."
narnia 3 wasnt that great
By the way, to clear things up, the new True Grit is NOT, I repeat, NOT a remake of the original film. It's actually another, more faithful, adaptation of the novel written in 1968.
