Default Your 3 Favorite Movie Cliches...

...A.K.A. Movie cliches that totally annoy you.

    Mine:

The Wilhelm Scream - okay, this one doesn't annoy me. In fact, I'm actually a fan of it and will employ it in all of my movies I make in the future somehow.

Thunder occurs the same time as lightning - This one totally annoys me. There's no explanation for it what so ever. The thunderstorm sounds just as intense with or without the delay in between.

And the one that annoys me the most - Mom prepares a breakfast for the family, usually consisting of the stereotypical breakfast-y foods, eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, etc. Dad and the kids will arrive at the table 30 seconds before they have to head to work and leave for the school bus. Each will only have time for a sip of coffee/juice or a bit from a piece of toast, etc. Dad gets a kiss goodbye from mom and has his suitcase and stuff and heads to the car. The bus is waiting outside for the kids and always honks its horn for them. When they all leave mom is stuck at home with enough food to feed a third world country. I gotta give Forrest Gump credit. He had his kid ready for school early AND waited for the bus outside with him!

    Carry on!

The girl is running in the woods looks back, falls, then tries to get up several times and stubbles everytime while the man who was once half a mile behind her (walking at a very slow but steady pace) is suddenly looking down on her with machete in hand.

I hate when mental illnesses are portrayed as mere eccentricities. Adrian Monk for example. I had a roommate with OCD once. It's a severely debilitating disorder and not the least bit cute.

And the opposite of that, Pacino running for blocks and blocks in Heat. That is one kick-ass old man!

-In final fight scenes, first the protagonist wins for about 5 seconds, then the antagonist dominates for about 10 minutes, then in the last 30 seconds the protagonists gains momentum and turns the tide of the fight (ala Rocky movies). It's the typical cliche drawn out fight scene, this is just one of the many reasons why I love ROTF.

-In horror movies, the killer is after the guy/girl that is running and the guy trips on something, then he drops his/her keys and then when they try to start the ignition the car stalls and then he/she says "come on start! START!!!" it takes a while for the car to start... and sometimes the killer is in the back seat and other times the killer is on top of the roof of the car trying to break the windshield.

-The attractive women always get killed in horror movies. (I HATE IT...grrr!)

badguy always think that kidnapping the main hero's girl is a good thing. Not even a horde of minions with guns can stop the leading man charging into the said safehouse with just a handgun, determination and possibly an erection.

The guards don't look behind them at night.

Zombies if left alone can get creative and will find ways to get in wherever you hide despite having no brains.

Exactly. It could be a brand new car, just purchased yesterday and it stalls.

How about overacting during court room scenes.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

    - unlimited rounds in a gun

    - shallow girl/guy sees err of her/his shallow ways

    - upward camera pan out of someone screaming (I.e., noooooo!)

    - +1 on the cars that conveniently won't turn over

One of the things I absolutely loved about Trick R Treat last night... Baker had a hell of a time rolling a corpse into a hole. DEAD WEIGHT IS SUPER-HEAVY!!! I hate it when movie characters have no problem lugging corpses about. Just turning over an unconscious man that weighs a mere 150 is a super-feat, trust me!
