is one horror movie that lives up to the hype. You must see it immediately.

I'll give it a rent when it comes out on DVD / Blu-ray. Not my cup of tea really.
Really glad to see a $15,000 movie has made around $35 million in the US alone, that is one hell of an achievement.
Heheh, I hear that a lot of people left the screening of the movie, not because the movie sucked, but because it's so damn scary.
I won't be seeing it any time soon. It's bad enough that a 20 second screamer video can leave me traumatized for 24 hours. *shutters*

"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they're genuine." - Abraham Lincoln
It made me very uncomfortable.
I think it'll actually be even more creepy if you watch it in your own home.

"My story is of many thousands, and the world will not suffer if it ends too soon."

Sam Witwicky: He peed on you? Bad Mojo! Bad!
Ironhide: Bad Mojo! Ugh, my foot's gonna rust...
I've heard about this movie. Sounds very scary. That means I have to see it!
This movie each week gains in popularity:

Cirque du Freak is in 7th position this Friday.Little-horror-movie-that-could Paranormal Activity continues to defy all box office rules, leaping to the number one spot at the box office on Friday with an estimated $7.6 million — in its fifth weekend in theaters.
1. Paranormal Activity – $7.6 million
2. Saw VI — $7 million
3. Where the Wild Things Are — $4.4 million
4. Law Abiding Citizen — $4.1 million
5. Couples Retreat — $3.7 million
I will most likely check it out when it finally comes across shores.
This is what I hate about Hollywood: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/15495
What possibly could the sequel do to be drastically different? Nothing.Paramount Pictures is "actively considering" making a sequel to "Paranormal Activity," the low-budget supernatural horror flick that has become the sleeper hit of the season reports The Los Angeles Times.

Exactly, same with the Donnie Darko sequel, a perfect film tarnished by a Z grade sequel. :P
Something fairly original comes along (Paranormal Activity) and Hollywood pounces when it does well at the box office and decides to imitate it over and over, it happens with all the movies these days unfortunately.
I can honestly see this becoming a franchise released yearly like the ghastly Saw series.. low budget, in it for earning an extra buck.
The first footage from Paranormal Activity 2

Here is another parody called Sexual Activity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uua7oOYY-nM
It has been suggested that PA, when everything is said and done, may bring in more $$ for the studio than ROTF. Question is, how many times can you pull off an ultra-low budget flick without killing the magic?
If there is a second it will stumble. The film cut to the night scenes where it covered a whole range of "paranormal" activity. For me I think it is a one-hit wonder, a sequel would be repetitive.
As for the profit gain I don't think it will pass ROTF (or did you mean as a series of films?), that made like +600-700 million? Paranormal Activity started well but think it may fizzle out after the Halloween period. As for overseas I honestly don't see it pulling too much profit in, our tastes are different (judged by box office of course).
Look, I can understand your feelings over the 'ghastly' Saw series(I flat out avoid it myself), but to be fair I don't think the function of that series is to put out original films of artistic merit.
It's to make money that will help cover Lions Gate's costs for other films (some of them half-decent, to be honest) and also to act as a practical training ground for young talent. As far as I'm concerned that's great. Pity about the films themselves, though.
With regards to a PA sequel, I've not yet seen it, but from what I can tell it's the kind of film that would be best left as is. If revisiting the material can result in something good, then kudos, but this sounds more like spotting a fresh cow and milking it dry.
That said, it might turn out to another example of the Saw model, using an established brand as a means to make money that will help to finance other films. Still, this not being Lions Gate in this case, but rather a giant like Paramount, I don't see that as even being necessary.
Even so if Paramount is set to do a sequel you can bet your a$$ they will put in a good 15-20 million $ into making it. After all I think they were in talks to actually remake the 11k film, but then someone or something changed their mind and they stuck to the original film as is, and then released it on a limited basis, then wide as it was in demand.
Well most studios there are in it for the moola. Look at what most of them are doing now. Looking at horror films that did well in asia and remake it into holywood wohoo cash in boys! The studios aren't willing to make a new fresh idea that "they"think will have no audience to sell to. Age limit comes in. if its got blood make it into PG13. People today are much more mature than that. Give a studio a great idea and they will send their writer to talk to you about it hahaha. :deadhorse1:
One great writer made a prank and wrote an idea for a great movie, two studios went homing over it so...
one made: The night the world stood still
the other: The day the earth stopped
Heck there is even identity theft to steal a writer's work and say "Hey I made it! Pay me!"they just changed the names and get credit While the orignal author waits in limbo hahaha. Hollywood indeed:deadhorse1:![]()
In appreciation they are apparently listing tonnes of names on the credits of the film for those that demanded it / went to see it I guess.

Your 15 "seconds" of fame starts now (as the credits role).
Bullshit, effing bullshit. That was scarier than HELL. And it's real footage too. I can't believe that. Fricken' insane.
Trailbreaker, if you seen this you would have died.
Mean, Green Sexy DEATH Machine! ♥
I thought this was the best horror movie of 2009 besides Last House on The Left 2009, Martyrs, Zombieland and Friday The 13th. Better then Blair Witch Project IMO!
Well SAW happens to be this generation's Elm Street or Friday The 13th in terms of big screen horror franchises, agree or disagree on comparing the Saw series to Elm Street or Friday The 13th series? what about the original "SAW"? that one is a modern horror classic.
