Mr.Bay. I have a question about "learing a movie"

I wanna be a director like you.sir.
but to me, learing a movie seems so pointless.
I mean, who can teach movie?
well. when I see the "transformers" I think it is great.
I always feel you have your own style.

that is what I mean.

I think everyone has their own "style"

so, If I make a movie, that movie will be made in my "style"
right?

I mean. there is no "right and fixed"way to shoot a movie.

that is why I think learning a movie is pointless.

what do they teach? when there is no fixed way? and right way?

they teach "do not use too many light at certain scene" sort of thing.

but in your movie transformers, I really like it because you used light in a very nice way.

particularly when megan says "sam , no matter what happens~~~"
at thus scene, there was a shinig sun light behind Sam.

I was so! so! impressed when I saw that scene.

this is what I mean.

we all have their own style.

but at school, we are forced to learn a certain style....

I'm no expert at this, but I think you posted something similar to this before....Are you really that serious to become a director? Here's just some advice that I can give you....

Actually, Glaumoon, there are a lot of places that teach media and it's not pointless if you want to be a director. And who can teach you how to make movies? Lots of people actually.

That is a rather negative attitude if you want your career to be directing. Don’t ever think learning is pointless! If you want to be a director, go to film school, learn all that you can, be good at what you do and take on board the constructive criticisms.

Look, if your really serious about becoming a director, contact the universities, the film schools, find out what it avaliable and what you need to do to get there.

A little more to add to Kimba's great answer: Film schools and classes and mentoring can teach you about such things as story arc, character and plot, the tech side (if you can't speak the technical language of movie making, you will be at a severe diadvantage on set!), etc. They are also a great place to see lots of films and discuss them. Deconstructing films, what worked, what didn't, is a great way to develop your own style and your own vision. Its also a great networking tool. You will meet people who you will work with for years to come.

And in addition to the answers you 2 have given (which were really good), being a director means you'll need to work with people from other fields, so it's good to have some knowledge of other aspects of making a movie, both for knowledge's sake, and so you have some respect for the work that the people you're working with are doing. So you can't just start off making your own style of movie, you need to dig deeper.
