Default Transformers Revenge of The Fallen Blu-ray (SteelBook) and Imax

    Nelson here...

I just got word that the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray SteelBook (below) will only be available in Canada via Future Shop (the DVD SteelBook will be available in the US via Fye). And Future Shop doesn't ship abroad.

So I'm in the process–personally–of getting some copies and shipping them to those that are interested. I am personally selling them (these WILL NOT be autographed by anyone and proceeds will not be going to charity).*

So, if you're interested in reserving a copy, I will selling them here.

    http://www.shootfortheedit.com/site/...rotf-imax.html

I will stop taking orders until October 16. Expect 2-4 weeks for delivery.

Also, I will be personally taking orders for Transformers Revenge of The Fallen Blu-Ray IMAX (2-disc) for those that desire the Imax version but have no access to Walmart abroad.

*Prices are subject to change without notice.

So Nelson it is confirmed that the only way to get the IMAX version is to buy it at Wal-Mart in the USA? Such a sad day indeed for international Transformers/Blu-ray fans. I will probably take your offer of sending the IMAX version overseas.

Why Wally World??? I hate that place. Last time I set foot in one of those was to get the Eagle's "Long Road Out of Eden" album because of this same kind of BS. And I did that as quickly as I possibly could. I prefer Target by a landslide. But looks like I'll be forced to make the journey into the overcrowded abyss that is Wally World.

Well one more time the german Fans are the fools. We don´t have Wal-Marts in our country. So we can´t get the IMAX Scenes. This sucks!!
Many german Fans in our forums are very upset. And a lot of us won´t buy the Blue-ray or the DVD. Sorry Paramount this was a silly mistake!
    Best regards from Germany!

Wow I'm confused. I must not have read this close enough. I thought SteelBook WAS the IMAX version.

What's the point of the SteelBook then? metal cover? that's it? Big whoop. It's all about the content. Not the packaging.

I can't keep this shiz straight anymore.

The Autograph Edition looks exactly like the IMAX edition per the s4te store & the MB.com store. Are they the same thing? Is the "Autograph Special Edition" essentially the IMAX edition?

What ever happened to the K.I.S.S. theory?

Hey Nelson, could you post the link to walmart's site for the IMAX version? I found two versions on walmart.com

Walmart.com: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (2-Disc) (Blu-ray) (Widescreen): Blu-ray

Walmart.com: Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen (2-Disc Special Collector's Edition) (Exclusive) (Blu-Ray) (Widescreen): Movies

I assume the second link is the one with IMAX scenes in full-screen but I called Walmart and they have no idea since both product descriptions are the same. Could you confirm please? I don't want to spend extra if the $25 version also has IMAX scenes since walmart is selling it. Thanks.

Click the link I posted above (where I'm quoting you) and you'll see that it might appear to be different, albeit no less confusing. (and referred to as "Big Screen" edition for some reason).

so.. 20 bucks for the "Big Wheels" er... "Big Screen" edition? lol. It's not any more clear. I'm not sure how much you can trust one of these ads to have the correct image. That might just be stripped down - non special edition price.

I guess I'll just have to wait for the 20. But I would go for the autograph combo if it were the IMAX version.

Oh, no doubt, re: weekly ad.
I didn't say it would clear things up (it might have made it worse, actually), I said it -might- be different. The thing says "2 disc" as well, go figure.

This situation is still not clear. Do countries worldwide have the IMAX version at all? Paramount can't be serious making it an exclusive at 1 chain in the US when the rest of the world's Blu-ray player owners want it too!

Oh well, unfortunately it seems it's what Paramount is going to do. Which doesn't make any sense, actually makes absolutely zero sense to do such a thing but the Paramount CEO switched over HD-DVD exclusive format over Blu-Ray just for a few bucks from Microsoft/Toshiba at the time.. and despite Blu-Ray being what consumers really wanted, and the optical standard that would have delivered the best video and audio quality thanks to its bigger capacity. Whatever at the time Paramount went HD-DVD exclusive and that was a very very bad move marketing wise, practically the group lost a whole year with HD-DVD and then had to recover time and money switching to Blu-Ray after WarnerBros went Blu-Ray exclusive and the optical format war was declared over, BD was the winner.

It does make no sense marketing wise to not release IMAX enhanced SKUs of Transformers2 worldwide.
It does make no sense to not release extended editions of Transformers and Transformers2 re-integrating back all the finalized deleted scenes or to not finalize the scenes that could be added. It's quite clear that the marketing geniuses are probably thinking to release extended editions of all three movies in some collectors package late 2011 but that is not good marketing. They should have done that now, especially being Transformers2 so clearly full of missing scenes and shortened scenes releasing an extended edition would have helped selling more copies... but they are not even releasing the IMAX cut now.

There's a 2-disc deluxe Blu-ray set comes with limited edition Bumblebee packaging that transforms into a 14H" robot from Target.

    http://www.target.com/Transformers-R..._rd_s=center-3

Not sure if it's the same type as the Bumblebee case from T1 or not. They say it's a Target exclusive also.

As far as I know, Walmart has the EXCLUSIVE rights for the Blu-rays w/Imax.

We fans/customers worldwide can only wonder then if Walmart is paying Paramount more than what hundreds of thousands of potential customers worldwide would have paid to buy the IMAX edition... I doubt that is the case, I don't think that they are going to get an higher profit with such a limited exclusive, it's going to be a rare collectors edition that only few people will have the chance to buy, that is the reason why marketing/money wise it doesn't make any sense. Why not pursue the maximum possible number of copies sold? I think that Paramount would have got a way higher profit releasing IMAX enhanced version worldwide.
