Sounds good man even if it is PD's worst remake.

ugh, i still didn't watch the movie. But, thank you for telling me that Freddy isn't a child killer and is a Child Molester.

i'm a real fan of horror movies and Nightmare on elm street is one of my favorites. Sure i will compair the original with the new one, but like you said, fans need to have a open mind.

That's what i had to do when i went seeing the A-team. I guess, if you start compairing you just ruin the movie for yourself.

What do you think of Samuel Bayer saying in a interview about people worried about remaking Elm Street and accepting a new Freddy:

"If people are willing to hold on to the past, i think they are making a mistake. We aren't just reinventing, we are reimagining to a new darker, more serious level". Any thoughts on that?

To be fair, i never read Samuel Bayer saying that, but he's right.

Sorry, If I have spoiled that for you, but I did warn you ahead of time in my review. Interestingly enough from what I've read that's exactly what Wes Craven originally intended Freddy to be.

But Mr.X do you think this remake lives up to other horror remakes like The Thing, The Fly, The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Willard, The Ring, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead (1990), Cat People, Friday The 13th, Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes, House of Wax (1953, itself was a remake of 1933's Mystery At the Wax Museum but the new one was more in-name-only), Last House on The Left, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Toolbox Murders, 2001 Maniacs, Wizard of Gore, The Crazies, Little Shop of Horrors, Invaders from Mars, Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and some others?

I thought this was an alright remake but it's still PD's worst movie, Friday The 13th was superior in every way. Jackie Earl Haley was very good as Freddy but he's no Englund.

It all reminds me of my original reaction to when Dawn of the Dead was gonna be remade. Back in 2003 when DOTD was gonna be remade for April of 2004, i was furious and wanted to kill everyone involved with the remake, i mean why mess with a sacred horror classic? it's sacrelige as it's like trying to repaint the Mona Lisa with sewer material. I mean did we really needed a remake of Night of the Living Dead back in 1990? No but it turned out to be a really well done remake thanks to Tony Todd, Bill Mosley, Tom Savini as director and George Romero as producer and writer. I grew up with DOTD since the mid 90's when i was 15 after being impressed by the original Night of the Living Dead, i became a Romero fanatic for i was impressed by the Tom Savini created gore/make-up effects, Ken Foree becoming a fave actor of mine and the social satire at consumerism. However after being weary and skeptical i saw the trailer online and it looked alright then when i finally saw DOTD 2004 in a theater, it turned out to be a wonderful and pleasant surprise of a movie! Zack Snyder made one hell of a debut here making it one of the best zombie movies ever. Inferior to the original masterpiece of art, it's still a brilliant reimagining like Tom Savini's 1990 Night of the Living Dead.

LOL, I alway's feel like I'm being tested by a teacher when you ask me a lengthy question like that. Is it as good as the remakes you mentioned, probably not (Definetly not as good as the Fly or The Thing). But is it a good horror movie? I'd have to say yes. Not great or bad, just good.

I don't think any actor can Replace Robert Englund as Freddy, But I agree, Jackie Earl Haley did a very good job as Freddy. I'd like to see him play the part again.

I've never had that kind of a reaction from learning of a movie remake--It usually came later after I saw how horrible it was.

It's alright. i don't mind spoilers as long i don't know the details of the movie. Besides even if i know them it just makes me to go and by the DVD even more

Most agree, i'm still gonna get the Blu-Ray. The sequel might be better than the first one! Freddy is still popular with everyone including today's kids, i mean he's a timeless icon who spawned many trick or treaters like Meyers and Voorhees.

Maybe the sequel will be superior and since it will be in 3D, don't they remember that Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare was originally in 3D? i remembered when i was 10 years old when that came out, i saw it in one of my theaters in 3D but it looks different on DVD since it's just red and blue but the new 3D technology is superior.

It's nice to see a non-negative review of the movie, i enjoyed it and own it on Blu now and i own the original movies in it's boxset that even includes the 3D version of Freddy's Dead.

    Got the BR.

    Beautiful stuff.
