Based on this trailer, Jackie Earle Haley doesn't even come close to the excellent performance by Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger.
To quote Jerry Seinfeld... "that's a shame."
Liked it.![]()
Looks fantastic, i know Robert Englund is always the true Freddy but Jackie looks neat playing the role.
Anyone thinks it will be as good as these horror remakes? Dawn of the Dead, The Thing, The Blob, The Fly, The Hills Have Eyes, Friday The 13th, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Last House on The Left, The Ring, King Kong 2005, Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978 etc.?
I thought my topic was deleted lol, didn't realize it was moved.
Looks awful. Where's Wes Craven when you need him?
I don't see what the problem is. This looks better than what I was expecting. (for once)
Woah, I like it. Saw the original and I liked it but this one looks better. Haley better give a great performance, and his voice as Krueger sounds way different than Englund's.
To avoid problems between this and the original, don't compare them, simple as that.
Steve Jablonsky is in charge of the music, his Friday the 13th theme was very good, looking forward for the score!
On a side note. the original movie made freddy krueger my personal boogie man. I wasn't scared of a damn thing when i was a kid until he came along. took me until i was 16 to get that asshole out of my system. So if this one doesn't at least come close to creeping me out i will be pissed. hopefully i can some how find away to have one of the kids in my family watch this movie and scar them the sameway i was with a new freddy!
Looks fine to me... Not really sold on his face make up but I'll get over it I guess.
Okay, after downloading the trailer I got out my copy of nightmare on elmstreet and got a few screen grabs. Here's a comparison of the 1984 film and the 2010 remake.
I think Freddy's Face in the remake is more realistic compared with what was done before. Hopefully they will alter his voice so Its more creepy.
This might sound strange, but the opening shots in the factory yard at the beginning stand out for me the most. Very desolate and atmospheric; they don't look at all like your usual, super-shiny "Platinum Dunes" fare. Up to this point, Jackie Earle Haley was the only factor that made me interested in this project, but Samuel Bayer seems to know what he's doing. We'll see.
lol, Is that why it's called Platinum Dunes?Well this is the first time he's in the director's chair, that might explain the difference.Up to this point, Jackie Earle Haley was the only factor that made me interested in this project, but Samuel Bayer seems to know what he's doing. We'll see.

I like the make up also. He looks more like a burn victim this way. Hopefully that realism will only add to the feel of the movie. This is one movie I always thought should be remade once the tech and special effects advanced. i just hoped the fought the urge to overload it with special effects.
It looks like it might be good.
But will this be as good as those other horror remakes i mentioned?
I thought My Bloody Valentine 3D was fun, but what do you think of the remakes to The Thing, The Blob, The Fly, Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, Friday The 13th, Last House on The Left, King Kong, The Ring, and others? great ones. Some decent remakes are Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Amityville Horror, House of Wax, Night of the Living Dead etc and some bad ones like Psycho and stuff.
Isn't SAW already the new NIghtmare on Elm Street? in terms of a horror franchise and horror icon just like Freddy?
The remakes I like ( from your list ) are The Thing, Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, Friday The 13th, King Kong, The Ring, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, House of Wax and Night of the Living Dead.
I especially like "The Ring", definitely one of the scariest films I've ever seen.
To be honest, I really don't know. And I've only seen the first two "Saw" films.
I've seen the first Saw. I thought it was dumb.
