    Default Surrogates

So, who's gonna see the movie?

I'm excited about it because of the cast and the crew - Bruce Willis, James Cromwell, Ving Rhames, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike and Jack Noseworthy. Directed by Jonathan Mostow, the guy behind "U-571" and "Terminator 3", the DP is Oliver Wood who shot "Face/Off" and the production designer is Jeff Mann who worked on the first "Transformers".

And if you ask me, these clips are pretty good - http://www.collider.com/2009/09/15/3...adha-mitchell/

I hope I'm not the only one who's excited about it.

Looks interesting. Somewhat reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell.

I will be seeing it this weekend. Despite that I felt the trailer initially looked underwhelming.

I'm hoping it has more up its sleeve.

It looks neat, but it'll be a rental for me unless friends want to go.

I will see the movie tomorrow, but unfortunately it's not doing so well at the box office - http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2616&p=.htm

    Saw this on Friday.

There were parts that felt flat (like Willis' backstory), and the effects to de-age Willis were a little distracting (more so than they were on Stewart and MacKellan in X-Men 3). But when it stuck to the main concept, I felt it was pretty entertaining.

I still plan to see this. Forgot it came out this past weekend.

I found a review of it if you are interested. He gives it a 7 out of 10.

I don't care what the critics say about it. Often times they will hate something while the vast majority of the public loves it (ROTF). Yet in this case I think it has more to do with the lack of advertising . The most I have seen about it has been online thru movie sites.

That didn't stop ROTF from being box office gold.

Finally saw it...and I have to say, I liked it a lot.

I'm not gonna spoil anything, I just want to say that if you want a slick, tight and very intense sci-fi action/thriller, "Surrogates" is the movie for you.

And the moral of the story is - be yourself ( in every sense of the word ) and don't pretend to be something you're not.

Yeah, that's my weird way of expressing myself.

"Slick" = great visuals and a fluid cinematography.

    "Tight" = it's only 88 minutes.

Fine but not good. The movie actually presents GREAT ideas but the execution is quite poor. Mr Mostow is not a great director.

I have a feeling of a "studio involvement". It's just not right for a big-budget movie ( and complicated on top of that ) to be only 88 minutes long. I'm sure there are many deleted scenes, and hopefully we will see a Director's Cut.

    I'm with you Bayhem.

I went thinking it would be alright, but the opening sequence was so effective that I thoroughly liked the movie all the way through.

    Plus, it's Bruce Willis.

And the guy is still in great shape.

That's why I wouldn't mind another "Die Hard".

Saw the movie; liked it, although it may have been a little too short; not sure what I would have added, but at 88 minutes, it did seem like something was missing. Mostow is an okay director, although the action scenes were nothing to write home about.

I admit that I am somewhat a fan of these types of stories; I liked I, Robot as well. Not great stories, acting, etc., but interesting ideas.

    Absolutely.

I don't know, there's something about the atmosphere of these movies...something that I really like. Can't explain it.

So I'm definitely there for the Surrogates Blu-ray.
