    Is the audio track important?

    Still, I hope not.
Though I heard once that normal DVDs start to degrade in about... 5 years? So if you have 2 layers, and you watch something a lot, it is a laser after all...

The thing with the discs being messed up is very old news (look at video date for proof) and was isolated to only certain movies (The Prestige being the biggest one). I haven't heard of any recently cases of that happening.

Anyways, I own one BR, Spider-man 3, which I got as a pack in with my PS3. It's well over a year old (not counting the time it was sitting around at Gamestop and such since it was manufactured) and it's clear as a bell on the bottom (I've only watched it once...I don't really care for the movie...the only good part was the Bruce Campbell cameo).

The reason I only own one BR is A)I rarely buy DVD's as it is and B)any movie I'd really want on BR I already own on DVD and I'm not upgrading. I will buy Ghostbusters 2 day one *if* it includes the Possessed Ray deleted scene, but otherwise, I own it and GB1 on DVD and there is literally no reason to upgrade to BR (oh I should get it for the Ecto-1 refurbishment video? I already have that on the extra's video menu for Ghostbusters: The Video Game...also, the BR transfer of GB1 makes it look old...looks fine on the DVD).
