Bay doesn't like 3D.
"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they're genuine." - Abraham Lincoln
3-d is just a gimmick.
3D is not a gimmick when used properly like in Monsters vs Aliens or Jame Cameron's upcoming Avatar. 3D is only a gimmick when they do those gimmicky stuff flying at your face shots. And quotes from Bay himself: “The way I shoot is too aggressive for 3D cameras. It’s a time consuming thing,” said Bay. “Who knows… It might be a fad. I’m kinda old school. I’m old school because I like to shoot on film. I like anamorphic lenses, and that is old school.” and
"I prefer the flat screen. I’m not jumping to do 3-D at all—it’s a pain in the neck to shoot it and I actually like the flat image. I’ve heard that some people can’t even see 3-D and, moreover, that a major side effect of watching it is feeling exhausted. Can you imagine how you’d feel watching one of my movies in 3-D?"
