Ok, so I read and collected links to info regarding the IMAX 3-disc special SKU Blu-Ray disc release that was announced weeks ago thru various websites when they interviewed both Michael Bay and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura with the latter hinting to the possible reintegration of deleted scenes for an extended cut and not just the additional IMAX content.
Also, as you can see now on Amazon UK and Ezydvd.com.au appeared 3-disc Blu-Ray releases available for pre-order while the USA version is still just 2-disc Blu-Ray (as well as DVD).
So, what is going on? Will there be an extended cut? Will it just include the IMAX scenes or will deleted scenes be reintegrated for a longer runtime?
The only info regarding the 3-disc release seems to tell that a DVD copy of the movie will be included as the 3rd disc and that's it. But is that the whole truth? No IMAX ? No extended cut? Nothing? So why a new SKU for Blu-Ray just to include the DVD copy of the movie? It doesn't make much sense, if there really is nothing more practically no one will go for the 3-disc version in the USA, while it's the only version that will be released in UK and Australia and rest of the world then? So, why releasing a 2-disc Blu-Ray edition in the USA at the end of October and then the 1st of December a 3-disc Blu-Ray edition just to add a bonus DVD copy of the movie?
What we know so far is that Michael Bay himself in an interview declared that there would have been a special SKU for Blu-Ray release including IMAX content. And Lorenzo Di Bonaventura said that there were additional scenes not ready for the theatrical cut that they wanted to include.
It's quite a mistery right now. I really hope that an IMAX version including additional deleted scenes for a longer runtime is going to be released but so far it's far from clear and there is still no official statement to clearly tell what the upcoming 3-disc Blu-Ray edition will really include.
Here are the links with quotes to relevant parts:

Revenge of the Fallen producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says there were plenty of possibilities for material to be included on the eventual home video release, expected from Paramount and DreamWorks this fall.
“It will have a lot of additional things,” di Bonaventura said. “There are a lot of scenes we weren’t able to fully incorporate, and we’re going to make it as exciting as we can for the fans.”
Some of that extra footage did find its way into theaters, in the Imax cut.
“It has, I think, probably about a minute more of footage,” Bay says. “It’s got some more fighting footage that took place in the forest, and some additional stuff with Devastator.”

Transformers 2 UK Blu-ray on November 30th
Posted August 17, 2009 12:46 PM by Josh Dreuth
A tentative November 30th release date has been given for the upcoming UK Blu-ray release of Paramount Home Entertainment's 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. The 3-disc Blu-ray set will likely feature a digital copy and/or DVD copy of the film as one of the discs along with a massive amount of extra content.
This will likely put the US Blu-ray release on December 1st with a similar 3-disc release, but we are still awaiting an announcement from the studio.

Michael Bay Talks Transformers 2 Blu-ray
Posted June 24, 2009 10:47 AM by Juan Calonge
Michael Bay has already intimated some details about the Blu-ray edition of 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. It's going to have "lots of stuff" and is being produced by "Ridley Scott's DVD guy" in other words, the extraordinary Charlie de Lauzirika. Bay also confirmed that the BD version will have variable aspect ratio for the scenes shot in IMAX, like 'The Dark Knight' did.
"We're going to do a special IMAX SKU," said Bay, "where it'll open up for those scenes. You can see top to bottom."

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Special Edition (3 Disc Set) (Blu-ray) (808814)

Wether or not the Blu Ray contains the IMAX version of the film is up in the air right now, as there is no confirmation from anyone. The third disc is most likely a digital copy of the film. The possiblilty of an actual extended cut at the moment appears to be slim, as the bonus features show that extended scenes are one of the features on the DVD/Blu Ray.
However, if there is one, I'm sure a double dip will be in order.

That looks really tempting. If I manage to get 50 bucks when it comes out, I'm buying that.

Rodimus Prime:"Mmm... Don't suppose I could interest you in a used mantle?"
I work at Futureshop (Bestbuy in Canada) and in our inventory systems it shows 3 SKU's for the TRANSFORMERS 2 BD. Going from $32 CDN up to $60 CDN. The system doesnt show any kind of detail about the product, other than -33 days left till shipment!![]()
Nevertheless I already pre-ordered the U.S. version ROTF Blu-ray, today I ordered a Japanese version Blu-ray box too. Because..
It comes with the Leader Class Optimus Prime Black Version! (Nemesis Prime?)
