Default TF2 not turning out the way i'm hoping...

From many reviews (not critics but people who have already seen the movie) Lot's of people were saying that the movie's plot was bad but the action was good....even though i'm not going to take these guys opinions but hearing there opinions has gotten me a little disappointed...and what's pissing me off is that critics are complaining that the movie is too long and too loud! They just jealous?

I wouldn't take into what other people say that's just their opinion go see it and decide for yourself rather you like it or not.

If you are looking for a solid plot / story in this one taking into account the first film, then yes you may be slightly disappointed.
Just wait till Wednesday and make your own judgement, do not take into account critics, user reviews. You are the judge whether you like a film or not and for what reasons.

Alright thanks. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it, despite all the negative reviews.

You will. People who have reviewed this film bad is because they have no imagination, they cannot go to the cinema to escape, relax and enjoy the film. A good film to them is one that is visually boring and tediously written. A good film to us, and a good film to critics is world's apart

As long as the action and effects are good, I don't really care about the plot. I don't expect a well-written story from a Transformers movie.

I take exception to this. Why can't I have high expectations for a great story and characters in a Transformers film? I don't see how a big budget summer movie should be judged any different to a movie that comes out any other time of year.

    Here's my rant...

I know Bay has been dropping the term "summer fun" in a lot of Transformers 2 interviews and I see where he's coming from. I am a little concerned, however, that this could be taken as an excuse for any story/acting issues in the movie. Let me be very clear before I say my next sentence; I am a HUGE Michael Bay fan. I just hope Bay is not giving himself an excuse to disregard the importance of screenplay or performance. He should aspire to make a great movie that will stand the test of time and not one that makes a quick buck and can be easily forgotten.

We can have our cake and eat it too. Raiders of the Lost Ark is a smart summer movie. The Dark Knight made a lot of money and had a fantastically detailed story.

Do I want my giant robot fights? Hell yeah! Do I want my lingering shots on Megan Fox? Duh! Do I want a good story above everything else? Absolutely. There is no excuse for a movie released in the middle of the summer NOT to have a strong story.

How can you compare the likes of Indiana Jones & Batman to Transformers?

There is no excuse for a movie released in the middle of the summer NOT to have a strong story.
When you have 40+ hostile alien robots in a movie, you can be sure it won't have a deep in-depth detailed story. If you ask most people who loved TF1, apart from fans, you will know it wasn't exactly the story that made it so appealing. But it is up to you what you make of it.

The Dark Knight made a lot of money and had a fantastically detailed story.
I thought it was pretty bland to be honest, the only reason I bought a ticket to see it was to see Heath Ledger as The Joker.

I agree. If the TF movies had a strong story and character then this movie would've been something more than just a movie with big explosions and pointless humor scenes. But either way, I still like the movie for its action..... thats it. I couldnt care less about the Shia Lebeouf character. He really isnt necessary to be in the movie. If Shias character was more like Spike from G1 then that would've been good(in my opinion).

Simple: only focus on five or six(important chracters) of those 40+ robots(the rest are just to fill in the fight scenes) then its possible to create some deep character development for this movie.

Its like a war movie. You dont focus the story on every single soldier do you?

All movies these days have bland/simple stories. It just depends on how they were executed in the film, as well as how each of the main characters develop through a movie that makes a story complex/more interesting.

I think this is all funny. I've read some of these so called "reviews", one's that don't contain spoilers but talk about the lack of character development, story, etc. I remember as a kid watching the cartoons. You had at times several robots whose names were not mentioned in the episode show up, go away for a while, then show up again in another episode, all without explanation. The same people who loved these cartoons are complaining that this movie does the same thing. I pay no attention to their rants about this film. Come on people, I know it's giant robots from space but do you really think in life situations people pause to identify themselves? In a battle, are we going to expect the enemy to identify themselves in the middle things? No, that's not how it works. When you're engaging the enemy you're not focused on what his name is, you're focused on stopping him. We wanted more fighting with the robots, we're getting it. As for the story, I'll judge for myself how I feel about it. However I get the feeling you have to know a little bit about transformers already to fully grasp everything.

I have no idea why people worry about others' opinions too much. I can understand the way excessive expectations makes you feel uneasy because I had been having that kind of uneasiness until just before the World Premiere. But after I watched it, I left the theater with a full smile on my face.

Making a constructive criticism after watching it is okay. Talking about likes and dislikes is fun too. But hey movies won't bite. Just relax, grab your popcorn and watch it first. You don't have to worry too much.

Here's a thought- It's A SUMMER ACTION MOVIE!!! Think of all the blockbuster summer action flicks from the last 15 years... very little plot development to the one. Why? Because they'rer meant to entertain us, not make us wonder who's playing the piano or if the ring will be delivered...

Think these reviews are bad? You should read some of the ones for TF1! I recall one guy calling it "bloated".

Since I haven't yet seen it, I can't judge. (though I'm sure I'm going to like it)

However for those reviewers who said it has a bad plot--could it simply be they didn't get it? (not insulting anyones intelligence, but I've seen where a person didn't like a sci-fi movie only because they didn't understand the plot. This may not be the case, just a thought.)

I really like the tv spots etc that I've seen so far.

Saw it yesterday. Crowd liked it overall...I suppose I did too despite the plot. Regarding the plot - decent setup and good idea for a plot, but alas, it was poorly executed. As a TF fan, you're going to quickly realize that this plot has tons of potential, but the main disappointment is that it NEVER utilizes the autobots and decepticons as deep characters...just one-liner/brief dialogue stuff. You don't really see them react to major 'emotional' plot moments which is a big grievance for me.

Don't get me wrong - the action in this movie is ridiculously good and you'll enjoy it...but you're going to agree that the writers could have used a few more re-writes to tighten things up better.
