I too have seen this as I was at my local Walmart and Spoted a movie one Megatron in a ROTF package. At first I thought Hasbro was re-releasing movie 1 toys but was like WTF... why put them i ROTF packages? I looked closer and sure enough the package had been opened and retaped. Someone exchanged their movie one Megatron with a ROTF Megatron. Please watch what you guys buy!!!!!

Wow. People are really low when they do that. I work and Target and see that kind of stuff happen a lot. It's horrible. You really have to pay attention to catch it because it looks legit at first glance.

Why do people do this?

I guess the way they see it, they're 'trading up' the way you'd trade in an old car when buying a new one. Except, the store doesn't know what they're getting when the customer returns with the old toy, while the car dealership does, so in the end, it's still theft.

I suspect it's more of a problem for parents buying for their children than it is for collectors. Hopefully, they'll be able to spot it when it doesn't look like anything else on the shelf, or it looks radically different to the picture on the back...

its not only with toys either i remember one time i bought a ds lite. it was supposed to be the last black one they had, i bought it was on my way to the next store i opened it up it was a dirty obviously used pink ds with hello kitty stickers on it. another time i bought a game (cant remember the title) but inside was madden 07 and it looked like the bottem of the plastic was super glued. thank god the store exchanged them for the actual stuff i wanted but this is why i always open up stuff as soon as i get it just to make sure. and never buy anything with tape on it that looks like it was returned or have that sticker on it that you see sometimes on returned reshelved items.

This is why it pays when the parent buying the toy for their child is a also a TF fan.

My parents sure ain't but last week when I bought Optimus Prime, I had to mow somebody's lawn that day so I had my mom get it for me, I had to write a big list of details on what my leader Prime had so she would get the right one. I didn't think about the whole toy swapping issue though since it would have been way too early for them to do that with the RotF toys. She got the right one, but next time I get one I'm gonna get it myself just in case, lol.

Number 1 reason it's done: Movie 1 toys were rushed and the leader class megs and others were crap. Now that there are decent toys people are just too cheap to buy em. Retarded...
