Default Shameful..but I need an Idiot's guide to Transformers

Hi, I'm new here....and very, very, very rusty.

When I watch the first movie back when it first came out, a few things surfaced from long ago childhood memories, but...I'd like to be a little more prepared for this one. Does anyone know good websites that list names/pictures of who's who?

    thanks,

    bye for now,

    Sonya

I'm having the same issue. And a lot of my old favs are nowhere to be seen. I'll check quickly and see if I can't find a list of the G1 folks.

    Here you go...

I haven't paid attention much after the 1985 movie...

Sorry, I'm afraid my knowledge is limited to the cartoons I watched growing up and the first film. Case in point, I had no clue what "The Fallen" was...I mean who he was...is...oh you know what I mean.

To offer some help though, try Wikipedia.

I'm always on TFwiki just to figure out what people are saying. I wasn't allowed to see G1 as a really little kids, so I didn't see Transformers until the Beast Wars era. It's kind of nice because now I don't have to watch any bad episodes just to get something.
They call me Ratchet Girl for a reasonl.
    Yeah, I'm a girl...SO FREAKING WHAT????
I will always love Ratchet. Don't even try to take my title.

    Ouch, that one hurt.

Our cartoons laid the foundation for your Beast Wars. There's actually an episode where Optimus Primal meets our G1 Prime.

Dissing our show, would be like me dissing your father for having you.

I wouldn't go THAT far......I love G1 (especially the movie), but Beast Wars was an excellent show. I never missed an episode.

I LIKE the show, but now I can skip over some episodes I didn't like. I hated the one with the pond that turned them to gold.

If you say that about my dad, you are also saying it about my sisters. Being a triplet, there can't be one without the other.

I said it WOULD BE LIKE me dissing your father. I made a direct comparison.

    No insult intended. My apologies.

Thanks Trailbreaker, judging from past comments, you dont seem to like me much either.

When I said "my" I meant my era, my youth. I never bashed Beast Wars or anything else to do with Transformers.

But it's all good. I apologized and if you and taybrian hated the cartoons I grew up on, that's your opinion and by all means you're entitled to them.

Hey, I never said I didn't like you. And I don't hate G1. Otherwise, my favorite character wouldn't be Trailbreaker now would it? Believe me, I watched the pilot "More Than Meets the Eye." It's cheesy, it's goofy, yes, but it was fun to watch. I enjoyed it.

The problem with the 1986 film was that it sent the franchise in the wrong direction. Watching this, I was outraged by how they handled the deaths of the characters. Ironhide, Ratchet, all of the old bots we knew and love went down and nobody seemed to care. Good thing they didn't show Trailbreaker death, I would have been especially outraged by that. It was all some cheap trick for Hasbro to push all the old products aside and replace them with a new set of toys. I'm just happy they learned from that.

For the last time, I don't hate the show! Every show has bad episodes. I wasn't even allowed to watch it when I was little, so I'm catching up with it now. You can't tell me you didn't want to kick Wheelies aft a few times.

I was generalizing my comment. I know what you said, I just didnt want to address both separatley. Lazy.

But yes, wheelie was annoying, and I did want to step on him more than once. But thats looking at it now. When I was ...er... young, he was funny to me. That's why I took offense at what you said, it was like takin a swipe at my childhood. Wrong way to look at things, my bad. And also wrong of me to "retaliate" to anyone's personal opinions.

I agree, but that's what happens when a toy company creates a cartoon based on their product. They were just trying to keep the money coming in by creating "better" replacements and new characters, using the show as their display backdrop. Backwards way to look at it, bad way to do it. Nowadays cartoons/comics are usually created first and bla bla bla...

That's why Beast Wars was successful, they tried to respect the G1 status and their storyline was pretty wicked. The toys came out after...

I love Beast Wars because it was unique. I loved Beast Wars more when I found out it was created in my town.

Unhappy Re: Shameful..but I need an Idiot's guide to Transformers

I'm sure all the transformer series had something valuable to teach (or just plain entertainment) But I'm so glad I didn't see the 1986 movie...or I blocked it like a tramatic event. Killing off all the old characters...that's just criminal.
